Biography

You can go ahead and call Rooney’s new album, Eureka, their declaration of independence. After several years trudging under the weight of a major label deal that never quite fit them right, the Los Angeles band is making a bold, fresh start: Rooney recorded and produced Eureka themselves, and will be releasing the disc June 8th on their own new label, California Dreamin’ Records ... I agree with Ben, i originally heard this band on the OC, so i checked the album out and..wow...i'm so glad i did! ROONEY are my favourite!!!
Every single song is different, but they all have the same sort of feel good factor. They make me wanna get up and dance!
My favourite tracks include..
Blueside - Has a catchy little beat, the drums are constant in rhythm. The song in general is really indie, and i can definately imagine at a concert, people moshin to it. Yet it's not that heavy.
If it were up to me - I love this song. I love how there are so many different catchy bits, especially the chorus. This song is a really happy tune, and makes you feel good!
I'm a terrible person - One from the OC. I love it. I love driving to this song, i get really in to it and start singing really loudly. The lyrics are about a bad situation, and there seems to be no regret, however i still feel really good listening to it.
Daisy Duke - This tune is a bit slower than the others, it seems more sort of fountains of wayne style. This song is really indie. I love the chorus so much, i think it's the most catchy song on the album. "you don't know me so welllll, i think you know that now"
Popstars - My favourite song, partly because it's from the OC. I just love the beat, it's quite a melancholic song actually, but none the less it's great. I find this song kinda relaxing actually, and along with the rest of the songs, it's so catchy. Especially the beginning.
I'm Shakin' - This song must be the most popular/famous song. And theres no suprises there. It's a really catchy tune, and the beat is great!..it's really uplifting.

In one word, I would describe Rooney's debut album (although they already have several independently-released EPs under their belt) as amazing.
But, that still doesn't describe much about the album. To elaborate, Rooney's style is reminiscent of the past, but the band incorporates elements of the present, modern music scene to make a sound unique unto themselves. That's what makes Rooney amazing. The music could stand without the lyrics, something some songs and artists cannot do. Some of the lyrics are true and could easily be related to. However, I, being a fan of Rooney for two years now, noticed some differences in the older recordings and the new. I don't know why, but I prefer some of the "older" versions of the songs. A prime example: Sorry Sorry. Some of the "newer" versions of the songs sound better than the "older" versions, too, though. A prime example: Kristen (That Girl Has Love). The unique Rooney quality is still there, but it seems like it's been altered; so the older fans might notice that the songs sound kind of different but still pretty good.
Basically... it's a buy.

rooney is a terrific band with lead singer robert carmine taking songwriting to a new level. After first watching them perform a tiny snip of blueside in the princess diaries and then appearing in an episode of the O.C i was hooked and downloaded the songs i had previously heard, then on a trip to america i bought their album and i was hooked, and granted that was around 2 months ago i havent stopped listening to at least half the album everyday because the songs just lure you in.
after listening to the album around 100 times at the moment i cannot chose a favourite song because they are all excellent. although Popstars, Simply Because and Losing All Control are in my head at the moment.
cant wait for the second album which i can hopefully download or buy cos if this album is anything to go by its gonna be excellent.
p.s thankyou to the OC for showing a top band on your show

Amazing début album from Rooney. I first saw them on The O.C. and was instantly hooked with "I'm Shakin'" a track thats listen-able-to over and over again. I've already lent the CD to all my friends and they love it! Suitable for all ages, (i'm 18 and my niece likes it and shes 8) its also a good introduction for the Indie scene with younger listeners wanting to expand their taste or add to their collections.
The music itself can be a little similar in tune with each track though - but its still really great. If you like The Killers, The Thrills or All American Rejects then you will definatly love Rooney.

I have, genuinely, not got a bad thing to say about Rooney. Having first 'discovered' them for myself after they appeared in 'The O.C.', on Channel 4, I took a gamble and bought the album based on 'I'm Shakin''. The band have a totally unique sound, influenced by some past masters such as The Beatles. Each song is incredibly catchy...I found myself singing along whilst travelling the London Underground. Unfortunately I missed their only UK gig to date, and can only hope they return to the UK soon. Go on, take a risk and buy the album...I guarantee you'll love it.
