A Fabulous Album 29 May 2010
Format:Audio CD
This album is her best to date. Each album has a different feel, but this one is simply excellent. The production and arrangement of tracks has produced a beautiful unpredictable album of multiple styles and the last track is perfection, ending and leaving wanting more feeling a little cheated that it ended like that - an inspired album.

Dot Allison returns with a new album, moving away from an electronics to a more stripped down guitar sound. The atmospheric-noir backdrop allows her lyrics to come to the forefront, showcasing her obvious poetic talent. The two duets with Peter Doherty & Paul Weller offer a nice change of pace.

This is not Dot Allison's fault--every artist should follow their muse where it takes them--but I was hoping for more "You Can Be Replaced" and less of the clingy folk pop found on this disk. There was not a single decent trip-hop rhythm on the entire disk. Her voice is less wired for these intimate settings, which I found weak. Even so, Dot is still a vital artist I will continue to follow--I just hope she rocks a little more on her next effort.
