Superb Ronnie Spector New Christmas Songs

Ronnie Spector sure is keeping busy releasing new music lately and still doing concerts. I saw her in Niagara Falls a few months ago, and she was phenomenal. A true legend who is performing & doing what she does best. Here is a new CD with 5 brand new songs. Each one is a keeper, with all original songs. It certainly was a good idea to do a new Christmas release, as The Ronettes Christmas songs are true classics. Ronnie sounds fantastic here, and even has some spoken interludes on 2 songs remembering her favorite Christmas memories with her family. It's a Christmas gift to all her faithful legions of fans. The musicians also play real instruments, with the production strong, but not overwhelming. These songs fit Ronnie perfectly. It's a gift to have Ronnie Spector still at the top of her craft.

The best Xmas ever says the title, well it's nothing like the Phil Spector Xmas album but it's Ronnie anyway and even though her voice is not quite what it used to be she can still send shivers down your spine...

While there are only five songs on this CD, they're all winners. Of course the Phil Spector Christmas album is a hard act to follow, but almost 50 years later, Ronnie can still sing "Whoa-ho-ho" like Diana Ross used to sing "baby baby" way back when. The last song, "It's Christmas Once Again" was recorded by Frankie Lymon in the 50s. Ronnie's version is just as good, and Frankie's version has stood the test of time.
Ronnie loves Christmas and has fond memories of it. She still performs. She did a Christmas show at the South Street Seaport here in NYC during Thanksgiving weekend. She could probably do a complete Christmas CD like her friend Darlene Love did. I believe Ronnie did a holiday song a cappella called "Christmas of Love." I heard it on the radio a few years back. If that song had been on here, that would've been the ultimate. But this short playing, low-priced holiday CD is high in quality. It's Ronnie Spector - 'nuff said!
