Oh! What a book ! The best book I have ever seen on one single model,
and one of the best Alfa books ever (and probably one of the best
motoring books I ever saw, and the best I ever purchased !).
It has everything: nice printing, splendid pictures, complete
technical details and advice... PLUS nice girls and English "humour."
I will try to get the book reviewed in French specialised papers...
but you know that French usually don't speak English, too bad ! But
they should learn English at least to read THIS book !
I hope that this book sells very well, Bruce: it will be good for
you, and for the Montreal community, as it will help put the Montreal
on top of classic cars lists !

I've been pouring through my copy of the new 'Monti Bible'
and ....well what can I say... FANTASTIC JOB BRUCE. The first thoughts that went through my mind while going through it where what lucky bastards ALL future Monti owners are to have such an authoritative information/experience packed book to refer to.
Of the hundreds of hours of experience (all too often painful) that

"Alfa Romeo Montreal - the Essential Companion" is amazingly thorough and complete. In fact, I do not think I have seen a more in-depth book on one model before. This is the first and only English language book devoted to the beautiful and intriguing Alfa Montreal. The authors of many such books are motoring journalists commissioned by the publishers to write about a particular marque or model and the result is often quite passionless. In this case the author is clearly an expert with a real love for the Montreal and it shows. I have never owned or even driven a Montreal but this book makes me want to have one.
Although there could be more information on the design of the car (there are no styling renderings from Bertone or proper commentary on Marcello Gandini's other designs), the other sections on buying, restoring and maintaining a Montreal are very detailed indeed. There are also lists of chassis numbers, colour codes, models, magazine articles that have appeared worldwide and useful addresses. The text is accompanied by colour photos throughout.
Veloce Publishing offers an interesting range of motoring titles, but I have always been disappointed by the quality of the design, printing, and reproduction of the images in their books. This was particularly true of their title on the Citroen SM. "Alfa Romeo Montreal - the Essential Companion" is much better in all these respects, but it is not perfect and at this price it should be better still - this is what prevents me from giving it a 5 star rating.

Already bought 7 copies of this wonderful book, one is on the shelf and anybody has to touch it, one is for daily advices, the other copies were a gift for particular friends loving Alfa Romeo and specially Montreal.

There must be few motoring books on the market as well written written and graphically excellent as Bruce Taylor's Alfa Romeo Montreal - Essential Companion. The fact that it covers one of the most mythical and misunderstood Italian cars of the seventies makes this an even more remarkable achievement. If you have even the most passing interest in these cars, you should own a copy. If you are considering buying one, it is a must!
