Fun and informative 21 Mar 2006
By Angela
Format:Paperback
Fab - I intend to buy anything else like this that these authors write! Informative, but much less flippant than, say, the Horrible Histories books, although like that series it does have 'fun facts' scattered around. The craft activities are all easy to follow and use readily -available materials, and my four boys and I have enjoyed making some of them. It is a classic multi-sensory approach to studying history, making the topic much more fun than just reading about it would do. Brilliant to reinforce and energise studies at home or in school. We are home-educators, so I feel very pleased when I get hold of books like this and can really make the most of the luxury of being able to spend as much time as we like on a topic.

I bought this as I read another review by an HE mum who said that it was fab, and I agree with her, we have really enjoyed this book and my son is fired up to do the projects, which can all be made with things that are lying around the home.

Roman activities 10 April 2011
By Parents in Touch TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Romans are studied by children in KS2 and this is a super way to reinforce their studies and bring the subject to life. Lots of fun things to make, including a water clock, your own toga (useful for those fancy dress parties!), and some recipes (though you will only want to make one of them!). A handy stencil of Roman numerals and decorations will give rise to lots more activities and encourage creativity. All this, and lots of information about the Ancient Romans too, including a useful glossary.
