Product Description

Review

... an all embracing source of valuable information. The easily understood text is complimented by a multitude of colour images that re-enforce Bobbitt's advice. - Rolls-Royce Enthusiast Club Bulletin -

Its relatively small size makes it ideal to slip into your car's glove box - you never know when you will stumble across a Bentley T hubs down in some farmer's field, or, more realistically, when you decide to answer an 'FL' ad for a Silver Shadow ... this book is ideal for its purpose: an easy-to-carry, handy and useful guide to take with you when you go searching for that Silver Shadow, Camargue, or T. - The Flying Lady -

Clear and concise advice is provided with information and illustrations that will guide a prospective purchaser. Does it live up to its claim to be, 'The Essential Buyer's Guide' for these models? Definitely. - Rolls-Royce Owner's Club of Australia -

Super starting points for potential owners. - Classic & Sports Car

If you are contemplating what could be a life-changing experience, it's probably the best ten quids-worth you'll ever spend. - Gay Classic Car Group

Many of us are guilty of buying with our hearts and not our heads - I know I am. Looking back, I wish I had studied a Buyer's Guide, as it would have saved me many hours of work and valuable dollars. - Australian Classic Car

Loads of information to help you avoid expensive mistakes. - Classics Monthly

The author clearly knows his stuff… --Octane

I really can't understand the other reviews here. We really must be talking about different books. I was expecting a lot of hard information about what to look for when I go to see a car I want to buy. Instead I get a books filled out with comments like "these are big cars and care needs to be taken when negotiating narrow and twisting lanes". Seriously, do you need to buy a book that tells you tro take your reading glasses with you when you go to look at a car?
If I told you what I really think of this book I would get sued. If I told you where i think the other reviews have come from I would get sued by that company as well.
I was expecting - having read the other reviews on here - to find out where the real rust trap is, which mechanical components fail first, what parts the car will still run without and what parts will bring it to a halt. Forget it, You wont find any of that here.

This is an invaluable guide to buying and owning the ultimate dream car. Malcolm Bobbitt's book is an unbiased and honest assessment of the joys, and otherwise, of the purchase and ownership of a Rolls Royce or a Bentley. It is, for anyone not closely familiar with these marques, quite simply priceless and could save you from being carried away by your dreams into problems and possible penury.

Having, in my time, driven vehicles from most manufacturers, including Rolls Royce and Bentley, sitting in and driving the best car in the World is something I shall always remember with great pride and affection. It was this that gave me the idea that, one day, I would like to own one. Familiar though I am with the mechanical side of these marques, Malcolm Bobbitt's book points up the fact that, at the end of the day that they are as vulnerable to rust, rot and poor maintenance as all other cars. It also points up the fact that "routine" maintenance is greater than with most cars - not to mention more expensive, of course!

I won't say that this book has punctured my dream, but it has given me much food for thought and for that I sincerely thank the author.

If you are even thinking of buying a Rolls Royce or Bentley motor car this book really is, quite simply, the essential guide.

A bit disappointing, but it is billed as a buying guide, which is all it is really.
I guess I should not have been so cheap!
The same author wrote a big book, I think I should order that instead, should be great, but is expensive..
