Product Description

Formed in 1962 and still a top live draw almost 50 years on, The Rolling Stones are surely the most unique act of the Rock age, still performing dynamic shows and regularly recording new material that stands up as well as anything the competition has to offer. But the period in which the Stones star shone brightest was undoubtedly during the 1960s, when barely a month would go by without a classic new single, a dynamic new album or a news story telling of yet more bad behaviour from the boys! This 2 DVD set explores the fascinating story and extraordinary songs of the UK s most treasured musical asset, as it takes a detailed look at their career throughout the most fascinating period of their history. Featuring contributions from an enormous list of friends, associates and contemporaries and with comment, insight and critique from some of rock s most respected journalists, and including rare band footage, archive interviews, news reels from the era, locations shoots, unseen photographs and a plethora of other features, this beautifully packaged DVD set is amongst the very finest films about this truly exceptional band.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rolling Stones In the 1960's DVD 14 Dec 2010
Format:DVD
On paper this DVD looks great but in reality there is too much tired and lengthy chat from sometimes fairly dubious 'experts' and not enough Stones footage. If you know nothing at all about the Rolling Stones or you just want to collect as many Stones DVDs as possible then you may find this release a little more intersting, if not there is nothing much you haven't heard or seen before in better quality and with input from higher profile contributors and of course the Stones themselves. It's probably also worth mentioning this isn't an official Stones release. In short it's OK but there are better DVDs out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stones Satisfaction 19 Oct 2009
Format:DVD
Having been an avid 'Stones fan for the last 40 years, i've been collecting anything i can get my hands on and this DVD makes as an excellent addition to my ever expanding collection. With 2 DVD's packed with footage of the band, most of which i had not seen before, it tells the story from the inception through to the 70's. I've seen a few documentaries before but this one is the best so far as it contains so much information and tells their early story very well. It reminds you that they were once young boys writing great tunes and not the weathered rock behemoths they are today today. A must-have for any self respecting Rolling Stones fan. Now the rest of the story please!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars 60's Stones DVD 9 May 2011
Format:DVD
This DVD is not bad but there are far to many interviews with other people rather than the Stones. Not enough live footish of the Stones themselves. Dick Taylor's imput was good but the others was quite boring.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money 18 May 2011
By Creighton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This 2 disc DVD set contains snippets of the early Stones. No complete performances. Any clip is shortened to 15 or 30 seconds then followed by endless interviews with people on the edge of the RS world at the time. A complete waste of money. For an excellent documentary of the Stones in late '69 to mid 70's purchase "Stones in Exile" instead. A much better DVD.
