BORING!! 28 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback
This book has a story that goes nowhere until the last 3 chapters. A little boy with a puppy is left with his grumpy great aunt for the day. She complains about his manners while being abominably rude herself. A whole chapter is devoted to the boy being given the vacuum cleaner and told to vacuum in straight lines - zzzzzzzz! The only reason I read the whole book and didn't give up was that it was my daughter's set reading and she was finding it too dull to carry on reading herself.

Very far from funny. 15 Mar 2010
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book claims to be a light hearted look at relationships between different generations. In reality it is about a child who's parents can't be bothered to help him understand death and funerals and have no interest in looking after his education or welfare leaving him with a totally unsuitable care giver for a day. The book suggests that a child being forced to spend the day with an old woman who despite claiming to be very keen on manners is downright rude to him for the whole day. Worse still the vicious old woman thinks it is acceptable (and the book doesn't lead the reader to disagree) to lock a puppy in a room were he is constantly screamed at by (which I think is why it is supposed to be funny) a foul mouthed parrot. The end result of this is that the puppy is left as a quivering wreck, which the book suggests is fine because he's much more obedient now. I wouldn't let my children read it and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
