Seldom you'll find a book which leaves you better informed about one kind of body-therapy (or somatic education) than this one.

The subtitle of the book doesn't promise too much. It covers the possible results of the Rolfing method of Structural Integration without hiding its limitations. The mode of procedure of the treatment is explained quite detailed and understandable. The reader learns whether Rolfing is a suitable opportunity for him/her to improve the own body awareness and/or to get rid of problems with joints or other movement related difficulties.

The process of Rolfing treatment usually consists of 10 sessions which are built up on one another. One can use the book as an accommpanying manual for each session, because it includes a lot of daily life exercises and suggestions to realize psycho-somatic contexts of posture and movement.

The price-performance payoff of this paperback is very good. A favorable investment.

Excellent overview 10 July 2002
By www-somaticsacademy-de - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A small pocket book with lots of helpful information. While it can not compare with the anatomical details and theoretical depth of Ida Rolf's own book, it provides an excellent overview on what the Rolfing Method of Structural Integration is, what its basic theoretical premises are, and most of all what one can expect as a potential client. All the 10 sessions are described acurately, what happens in them and how one can support them as a client. Written by an experienced Rolfer, this is currently the most user-friendly guide on the market.

This book has summarized Rolfing perfectly. It is an old book that has recently been translated to English. If you have any questions about the genius work that is Rolfing, this book will answer them.

great introduction 27 Jun 2008
By Melanie Holt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is a great introduction to Rolfing. For anybody interesting in getting the work or for Rolfers whose clients want to know more about the theory.
Some statements are a little dated. Very accessible book.
