I was slightly disappointed with this DVD on the one hand. The DVD was very entertaining, in the sense that it did showcase, to a high degree, talented portrait artists' impressions of celebrities ranging from Michael Parkinson to Meera Syal. However, on the other hand, it had one major flaw.
This flaw was present throughout the entire DVD and can be identified as follows. The presenter, in this case Rolf Harris, was in my opinion too pre-occupied with the 'celebrities'. Harris would ask many searching questions, for example how did they start in show business etc; and as you might well imagine this line of questioning would take up almost two-thirds of each episode. Consequently all this came at the expense of the various artists' who were pushed to one side. A perfect example of this was that all artists' were briefly seen at the beginning of each episode. There was a fleeting glimpse of them at work in their studios. Then finally, we saw them toward the end where they would reveal their portraits. Although there had been no discussion on techniques used or what methods they used to complete their paintings.
