A stunning new character,
By A Customer
This review is from: Roivan (Paperback)
Roivan herself is one of the most stunning characters you'll meet in teenage sci-fi - humanoid, but able to swim like a fish and weep multicoloured tears, she is both like and unlike a 'normal' girl and has capacities of teleportation and telekinesis, along with a vast technical knowledge and flight skills, that seem at first to be at odds with her position as a stowaway on an intergalactic craft. But as this confident first novel progresses, we realise that her task is no less than the saving of her species, and to do this she must form strategic alliances with other species, including becoming the surrogate daughter of the gruff Carter, the Constellation Prime. How close this comes to real father-daughter affection is shown as the plot evolves. Glynne MacLean has a great future in this genre and I look forward to the next title in the series.
