This album is very strong in character and very appealing. It has comparatively slow tempi and a massive sound, which distinguishes it from a lot of recordings of this repertoire. It keeps growing on you as you discover new fantastic pieces as you keep listening to it. It shows that french baroque from the time of the Sun King is more melodic, rythmic, galant, pompous and indeed powerful than contemporary baroque from elsewhere. Recommended!

Love this soundtrack - beautiful baroque music 300 years old and still rocks! Listen to it hundreds of time and still enjoying it - regal, powerful, inspiring, more than 75 minutes of great music by Musica Antiqua Koln and a very informative and well research booklet, with colourful photos comes with the CD as well - a great bargain for any price!

Fantastic soundtrack! 16 May 2003

If you like baroque music (or even if you don't) I'm sure you'll love this soundtrack
you'll find majestic and beautiul sounds and a royal atmosphere,
music with gorgeous character!
