Product Description

"Brenda Hiatt has created a most different and dashing rogue." ~Kasey Michaels

To escape her stepmother's matchmaking machinations, Lady Pearl runs away, pretending to be a common housemaid, with the help of her abigail. When she is rescued from the near-disaster of recognition by a charming serving-man, Pearl pretends to be simpleminded to safeguard herself from any unwanted advances. But soon she begins to suspect that her rescuer is far more than the common servant he seemed at first.

Luke St. Clair lives a double life, pretending to be a gentleman while in reality sustaining himself and the needy as the notorious Robin Hood-type thief, the Saint of Seven Dials. The last thing he needs in his life is a beautiful simpleton in need of protection. But "Purdy" proves to be anything but simple—or common! Once he learns the truth, does he dare continue, in the ballrooms of the elite, the flirtation that began in the slums of London? The risk is enormous, but Lady Pearl's sweet kisses may just be worth it.

Synopsis

Posing as a maid to escape a dreaded marriage of convenience, fiercely independent Lady Pearl Moreston finds herself being rescued by debonair and worldly Luke St. Clair, but unbeknownst to Pearl, Luke is hiding his own secret identity, and as desire rages between them, the truth threatens to tear them apart. Original.

A new layer of texture in Rogue's Honor 11 July 2001
By Jody - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning finishing this book. Pearl and Luke kept me turning the pages. I found Pearl and Luke not only likable characters, but their personalities refreshing. Outwardly, they appear as opposites in all aspects of their lives and as the story unfolds, the reader is left with the pleasant discovery of just how alike these two really are.

Brenda Hiatt takes the reader on an intimate journey with Luke and Pearl and a wonderful cast of secondary characters, adding a deminsion to the story while entertaining the reader.

At the end of the novel, I'd found secondary characters that I hope to see as main characters in future works. I'm sure most readers who are familiar with Brenda's previous works will enjoy this new book and the wonderful plot that keeps the reader turning page after page. The plot sings, moving the story forward, never leaving the reader with the thought that it was contrived, but that it is the natural growth of the characters.

This social reformer also wants a perspective on the life of a commoner. Pearl and her abigail work in the kitchens at a society party. When she is in danger of being recognized, she flees the scene in the company of Luke St. Clair. Luke is an intriguing person. His lodgings, though in the dangerous Seven Dials, are elegantly furnished. He is the Saint of Seven Dials, robbing the rich and giving much of the proceeds to the poor. They both have surprises in store, as Pearl investigates Luke's mysterious past and finds the astonishing truth....

Interesting take on a peer 8 Mar 2012
By Never without a book - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The novel is about a Robin Hood-like thief who meets a young lady of the upper ton. The lady is seeking to stay unmarried until at least her 21st birthday so she can inherit an estate and practice social reform. The tension and chemistry between the two characters is great! They are both likeable and believable. There are several twists in turns that keep the book interesting.
