At last one of England's greatest intellectuals has a book-length study of his thought. Dr Dooley has done a great job in presenting Scruton's philosophical concerns in a manner that combines rigour with the avoidance of too many technical terms. In particular, the importance (to Scruton's philosophy) of our lives in the "Lebenswelt" is elucidated in a very clear way.
Scruton has been handled at arm's length by the academic and cultural establishment, owing to his defences of conservatism. This book is long overdue, but well worth the wait.
