This is one of Pierre Corneille's lesser-known plays but it is nevertheless a very interesting read. It charts the tale of twin brothers, Antiochus and Séleucus, of whom one is the heir to the kingdom, and one is not. Only their mother, Cléopatre, knows who is the true heir. The play charts what happens when she asks her sons to prove their love for her, as the one who carries out the task she asks will become king, but this task is the hardest, if not the most impossible, thing she could ever ask of them...
