2.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money- " It had to be gooh!" 28 Dec 2003
By Dawn
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Having eagerly awaited delivery of this DVD, it was with disbelief as I sat and watched. Firstly there appears to be no continuity, with short bursts of Rod apparently with a small audience, performing only one or two songs from The Great American Songbook. Rod struggles with his old stuff and the whole DVD appears thrown together when after taking his bow tie off, dripping wet, Rod then turns round back with the bow tie on and dry! The different sections, entitled "Interview with Rod", "Photo gallery" etc are ridiculous, imitating a first year media students attempt to make a video. I am sorry but this DVD is a complete waste of money if you want Rod Stewart doing what he does best.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment 30 April 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I think this DVD of Rod Stewart singing not only some of the really good oldies, but also some of his hits, is excellent. He sings with such feeling, plus some humour thrown in. I recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys Rod Stewart. I shall watch this many times over in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprised by the negative reviews. 26 Oct 2013
Format:DVD
I ordered this DVD for my Girlfriend then saw a couple of very negative reviews here.Worried that she'd be disappointed I watched it before mailing it on to her(long distance at the moment). My musical tastes are eclectic to say the least,I enjoy all kinds of music from Burzam to Sade via Heavy metal,Reggae,Blues,Soul and much else.I've never however been much of a Rod fan. However, despite only playing it to check it out I found myself really enjoying it.Sacrilege I know but apart from Gasoline Alley most of Rod's stuff never grabbed me at all, this DVD however I really enjoyed.Rod is laid back and obviously enjoying himself, the backing musicians are superb and I really can't understand anyone who calls themselves a Rod Stewart fan not enjoying it.My girlfriend is and loved it,I'm not particularly but I did really enjoy this concert.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful 27 July 2004

I like Rod Stewart's material, or so I thought, this DVD was awful, a complete waste of money. If you are looking for a Rod Stewart DVD where he is performing live find another one, do not waste your money on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Next best thing to live 19 April 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Really enjoyed this: in spite of Rods 'dad dancing'( only joking)
Worth watching several times, it grows on you.
Technically, Rod is an amazing and versatile singer, and brings out the meanings in songs you've listened to lots of times, but hadn't really understood before: he's such a natural story-teller: but really if you only know his hits you'd be stunned by his virtuosity here, his timing is right up there with Frank on the jazzy numbers.
What's always been great about Rod is the fact that he always surrounds himself by such great musicians, and he is also one: he tells the story of the song, but he is part of the band as far as using his voice as an instrument; its great to watch him duetting here, as well as interracting with the saxophonist and trumpetter: he also always gives credit where credit is due: he likes to show off, but he's no prima donna.
