He's the one who taught her to ride. Now all he wants is to ride her.

Six Pack Ranch, Book 1
Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble's a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what's a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for Blake's hands, and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago. She's all grown up now and ready to convince him that she's perfect for him. Except he can't seem to see past the big "don't touch" sign that's apparently still hanging around her neck.

When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake's nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided Jaxi's brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones.
That is, if Blake's finally ready to let go the reins and fight for what he wants...

Warning: Sexy cowboys seducing and being seduced in trucks, pool halls and barns. Droolworthy country charm, a little double-teaming, a few secrets and a whole lot of brothers to look forward to. Anyone wanna go for a ride?

I was really surprised there was not more reviews for this book but took a chance, downloaded the sample and then the actual book. loved it! Lots of romance, humour, and hot sex, what more could you want? Actually I always want good characters that appeal and a strong storyline, this series has both, so you you like Lorelei James or Lauren Danes 'Chase Brothers' series then these are for you.....

Rocky Mountain Heat is the first book in a new series, Six Pack Ranch, by Vivian Arend and features the boys of the Coleman family. This story features Blake Coleman, the eldest of the six lads who has been trying tirelessly over the years to hide his attraction and lust for neighbour Jaxi. When his mother is injured and need's help around the house, Jaxi volunteer's, putting temptation right on Blake's doorstep. I enjoyed this book but found it to be a little, hmm, for lack of a better word, amateur. Seems harsh even to me but I've just read better yet I didn't hate it. What I found odd about this book was the relationship Jaxi had with Blake's other brothers. If she's not kissing them she's letting them 'feel her up' in full view of everyone in a bar. Don't get me wrong, I'm no prude and have read plenty worse but for me it lacked class and seemed a bit trashy, even if it was set up by her and his younger twin brothers to make Blake jealous. However it worked, Blake was a very protective character when he realised Jaxi meant business and the scene's between the two were steamy. There's a strong theme of voyeurism in the book which isn't described or obvious to those reading the synopsis so be sure to note this before you buy if your not into that sort of thing. What I would have preferred was for at least one or two of the brother's to have a 'brotherly' bond with Jaxi instead of a bond made through lust as it would have made the book more emotional. Having said that, it was a good light read and I would definitely consider reading Arend's next books. 4/5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable escapism.... 27 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story follows familiar territory, but is none the worse for that. The first in what will obviously be a series I am presuming. The author cleverly introduces the six brothers who all at one time or another, live with their Ma and Pa on the family ranch ,in doing so we are given a very brief taste of what the future holds for each of them. This tale concerns the oldest son Blake and his hidden passion for the young family friend Jaxi. When the family Matriach breaks her arm and help is needed around the house, Jaxi grabs chance to seduce the object of her long time desire and affection. He initially proves a tough nut to crack, even when she makes her attraction obvious, Blake insists he is too old for her, all the time feeling desperate and enraged .When she flirts and taunts him with jokes and a saucy (somewhat unbelievable ,I wasn't sure I liked this scene it just felt wrong to me however...)scene whilst playing pool in the local bar with his brothers, Blake finally succumbs to her charms. If you like cowboys and a bit of spice, but nothing too racey though there are some fairly explicit but in no way offensive descriptive passages in this, ( and they are well written, always a bonus I think ! ) I am sure you will enjoy this. Its not as full on and raunchy , or as cow boyish as Lorelei James , but I really enjoyed it and will definitely go on and read the others. Some interesting characters mentioned and of course an HEA which I certainly require in all my reading at the moment anyway.Good value for money, I look forward to the next five books, one for each brother, though there are twins so maybe they will get one book as it is heavily trailed they like to share their women.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Good romance 18 Aug. 2014

Format:Kindle Edition
Jaxi is a neighbor of the Coleman boys and was always close friends with them. When she was 18 she dated one of them but really was only interested in the oldest one, Blake. As Jaxi got older, Blake wanted her too but felt he couldn't act on his feelings because he was 10 years older than Jaxi. He tried to be her "older brother" and treated her like a child. By the time Jaxi turned 21, she was frustrated with Blake's behavior and decided to show him how she felt and seduce him, proving to him she is not a child. She came up with a plan that involved Blake's twin brothers that drove poor Blake crazy but worked for Jaxi.

The boys' mother had a minor accident that prevented her from doing her regular chores so Jaxi was asked to live in the house and help her out. This was great for Jaxi's plan but was hard on Blake.

Jaxi is a fun, competent heroine and I liked her a lot. It was nice to read about a woman who could do everything in the kitchen, on the ranch and also was kind to the neighbors. Blake is a sexy cowboy who handles running the ranch business when his father is away. He is intelligent and kind but sometimes forgets to keep in touch with his brothers, which bothers him when he thinks about it. I liked these characters and their chemistry was amazing! We heard enough about the other brothers that I am looking forward to hearing their stories too.

I especially liked the bonus chapter which took us back 14 years to show us how Jaxi and Blake met.

This is a great romance with a good HEA that I would recommend.
