Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Considering the furore that greeted the release of the first game it’s a genuine surprise to see it get a sequel, especially one as uncompromising as this. However unpleasant the original was though there was no denying it was an excellent game and one of the most original and effective stealth-based titles of recent years. The story in the sequel is at least slightly less disturbing than before, as the snuff movie theme of the first game is ditched in favour of you escaping from a mysterious research facility.

The gameplay is more familiar, as your limited access to heavy weaponry and the large number of enemies out to get you mean that you have to spend much of the time creeping about in the shadows. It gets to the point where you have to shoot out lights to increase the gloom and have to regulate your breathing when an enemy is nearby – to ensure you aren’t spotted. The stealth aspects work just as well as Metal Gear or any of its progeny, the difference here being that hiding isn’t an occasional novelty or plot device but the only way to survive the game.

Of course what Manhunt is most famous for is the violence and that has not been toned down in any way as you use everything from a ball point pen to a plastic bag to perform some of the most gruesome attacks in gaming. There are also new environmental kills, similar to those in THQ’s The Punisher, where you can drown enemies in a toilet or strangle them with telephone cord. It’s not a game for the faint of heart, but for those that can stomach it there’s plenty of gameplay here amongst the gore.
Harrison Dent

Product Description

An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out.
Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are or how you got here.

The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is not as nasty as I thought... which is a good thing!, 9 Nov 2008

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game, feeling a bit guilty at getting something that has had such bad press. In the first couple of chapters i felt really uncomfortable playing it. However, as the game unfolds I began to realise that there was a deep story to this and it has been really absorbing. I would say that there is a strong mix of Max Payne in here, as the feeling I had when playing that was exactly the same.

When you are required to eliminate characters, it is not a random killing-spree, which is good. There is a motivation and purpose behind any kills and those targetted are getting their just-desserts (believe me).

I would recommend this game for those who enjoy psychological games (I didn't like Silent Hill:Origins), who are looking for something a bit different that has an engrossing story line, but are looking for a game to take them out of their comfort zone.

4.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, 17 Oct 2008
By Lydia (England) - See all my reviews
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Okay, so when I first heard that Manhunt 2 was coming out, of course I was jumping up and down with excitement. But then, all that hoo-haa happened and I was SO angry with the BBFC that I sent about 3 letters and emails explaining my disgust with their banning. Before I continue, I must say this: if children get hold of this game, it`s the parents fault, do NOT blame the game or Rockstar. This game has an 18 certificate for a reason: IT'S FOR ADULTS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, got that out of my system!!
Anyway, when I heard we couldn't get this game in the UK, of course I hunted on the internet for a copy to import. Thank god for ebay!! I won't give too much away about this game because I think if you've played the first one (as well as similar Rockstar games) then you know what to expect.
What first struck me about the game, is that it is nothing like the first. I felt Manhunt 2 was far more cliche and mainstream - it doesn't feel as "dirty" and underground as the first.
I also thought it was far too short, and the lack of bonuses is a negative. However, I felt the missions were fun, and I can definitely play it over and over again.
Buy this game if you like action, suspense, and gore.
But IT'S NOT FOR CHILDREN!!!!
