I've read some of the reviews on here and am surprised by some comments, not surprised by others, but feel it necessary to put a few things right.
These are a predominantly canvas shoe:
Are they boat shoes - yes, at least in appearance.
Are they suitable for boating - not a chance. If you want waterproof boat shoes buy Swims (http://tinyurl.com/lcpojah).
Are they comfortable - yes, very much so.
The Adiprene/Adidas soles make them unlike other boat shoes that seem to have very thin and uncomfortable soles. Instead, your heel is treated to sufficient carpet-like sponginess.
The quality is ok. Yes, they look quite tatty, but if you're buying boat shoes in red, you can hardly be expecting to wear them into a members only bar in Mayfair. I haven't had mine for too long, but they don't look like they're about to fall apart.
My one issue about buying these shoes, isn't the shoes themself, but about how you look at the value they represent. Would I spend £75 on these (i.e. as advertised here). No, but that is subjective. If you are buying on comfort, colour and appearance, then I would give these shoes 5 stars - and so I have. On value, I'd be bordering 3/4 stars. I bought these from a high street store for £30 and I doubt I would spend more than that on them. If you can find them for a price that represents value to you, you still won't be disappointed.
