5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, nail-biting suspense novel 7 Jan 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A 30 year old mystery about the death of a rock band; a conspiracy theory about the death of John Lennon; a string of recent murders that may be linked to those deaths. This book is a wonderful suspense novel that kept me turning the pages to find out what happened.
John Lockwood used to work for the police as a psychologist but after a spell in a mental institution when he suffered a nervous breakdown, he finds himself unable to get back into the work he once enjoyed. When we meet him, he is working on a book Crash and Burn about the untimely deaths of rock stars. His friend, Ken, helped him to pick himself up after his breakdown, and with his contacts in publishing, helped him to get the contract for the book. Matters take a sinister turn when Jack begins to investigate the death of Maggi O'Kane, a member of the rock band, Border Crossing, who allegedly killed the rest of her band and then committed suicide in 1980. It appears that there might be a link with the John Lennon murder, and perhaps a cover up; were Maggi and her band murdered? As he tries to get to the bottom of the 30 year old mystery, Jack finds himself dropped by his publisher, and almost killed a few times... To make matters worse, he is sure he is being followed by a serial killer, Edward Van Leer, the man who almost killed him years ago. But how can that be when Van Leer is locked up for murder? This book is full of twists and turns, and action packed scenes that will induce nail biting.
The story is told in the first person, from Jack Lockwood's perspective. It is not only a great crime thriller, but also very insightful about the human psyche, betrayal, friendship, loneliness, relationships, and other such matters.

Fast paced action thriller with an emotionally flawed central character. The narrative style is smooth and engaging and urges you to turn the page to find out what's going to happen to Lockwood next. Highly recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suicide or Murder? 30 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Rock'n'Roll Suicide by Geoffrey West is a fast-moving, intricately-woven thriller that will make your heart beat faster as you read it.

Dr. Jack Lockwood, a Behavioural Investigative Adviser, is writing the final chapter of his forthcoming book Crash and Burn, detailing rock stars who had died too young. He is on a mission to discover the truth about the death of his rock and roll idol, Maggi O'Kane, not believing the official verdict that she had massacred the members of her band `Border Crossing' and then committed suicide.

Jack endures indescribable pain, both to body and heart, but doggedly continues his search, linking her death to the murder of John Lennon in December 1980 which she is thought to have witnessed. Did she see who really killed him? Could this have led to her own murder a short time after?

You will not be able to turn off your Kindle until you too discover the truth!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable book 6 Feb 2013
By ridzy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A hugely enjoyable well written book with twists and turns throughout and an unexpected conclusion to the story. Unlike some books that you know where the plot is heading and the ending comes as no surprise this author had me guessing all the way. There are not many books where I download the next in the series before I have finished the current one, this is one book that I could not wait to finish but at the same time I did not want it to end. Five stars does not seem enough for this first book in a series of ex-criminal profiler Dr. Jack Lockwood mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock 'n' Roll Suicide 20 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Thoroughly enjoyable book, reflecting how events from the past can have a dramatic effect on the present. Fast moving with lots of twists and turns - difficult to put down, never 100% sure what the outcome is going to be until the last chapter. Looking forward to the next 'penning' from Geoffrey West.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Moving Thriller! 4 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Splendidly written, the narrative of Rock 'n' Roll Suicide drew me in immediately. Geoffrey West has a wonderful talent for bringing to life scenes with such vividness that I felt as if I were truly walking in the shoes of protagonist Jack Lockwood, a Behavioral Investigative Adviser, a psychologist who used to work with police on various crime cases.

Rock 'n' Roll Suicide is an intriguing suspense novel that begins with Jack Lockwood writing a book called "Crash and Burn," the story of 1980s rock legend Maggi O'Kane and her band, Border Crossing. Lockwood is investigating their deaths, in which it was believed that Maggi had gunned down the band members and afterwards committed suicide. The story is not only a mystery that cleverly weaves together a conspiracy theory about the murder of famous Beatle John Lennon with the death of Maggi O'Kane, it's also a story about motive, character study, and the struggling emotions of Jack Lockwood who has suffered his own personal tragedies.

There is plenty of action, characters come alive, and the story flows with surprising twists and turns.
As corpses pile up and a serial killer hunts Jack Lockwood, the intrigue and suspense mounts and I found myself reading page after page, faster and faster. For anyone who enjoys a good mystery and lots of thrilling action, I can promise, you won't be disappointed with Rock 'n' Roll Suicide!

Bravo to Geoffrey West, well done! I look forward to "Doppelganger," book 2 in the Jack Lockwood Mystery series.
