3.0 out of 5 stars Not like the old days, but worth a listen 15 Aug 2007
By John Sposato - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Not what I expected. Of course, you can't try and relive the old sound, but this was a bit cringey, like some of "White Feathers". This is the first new song since 1985 with the same lineup. Even after Vh1's "Bands Reunited" miracle in 2003, it's back to the 'Kaja' trio that still live in tiny Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire outside London, though Limahl and Jez Strode have recently returned. If the chorus weren't a little racy, it could be on a kids show or something. The video is very low budget, where Nick Beggs appears alone at his PC cam, like someone making an amateur clip. Some bad reviews there, so this is sugar. At least they now have more control and say over their music. Beggsy's a laugh!
The ballad "Tears" appeared earlier this year on a compilation called "This is Not Retro, Vol. 1", which had new tracks from '80s and '90s artists trying not too hard to recapture their salad days.
This had to be indie so a big conglomo label wouldn't have influence or reject the band as washed up and too old to compete with today's stars. Both tracks appear on the new album "Gone too the Moon".
