Product Description

Product Description

Why was Candle in the Wind for Diana a terrible mistake? Which rock star left an unspeakable gift inside a hotel room hairdryer? What's the story behind Ozzy Osbourne and the exploding mouse? Rock and roll and rumour go together like Peaches and Geldof. Tales of outrageous excess, of the filth and the fury (not to mention the furry) are part of music's heritage. Whether they're true or bare-faced lies, Jon Holmes has gathered together the greatest pop and rock myths and legends ever told. These stories have come straight from the mouths of those that were there, those that shouldn't have been there and those that were there for a bit but left early and only heard about it afterwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY, VERY FUNNY BOOK!, 5 Oct 2008
By J. Baker (Kent, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

I really loved this book and got it the first time round in hardback. It made me laugh a heck of a lot and I've bought it for a few people I know that are into music and comedy and they keep quoting it back to me in the pub. It is full of some brilliant stories, that demolish the egos of a number of famous rock stars. My favourites involve Celine Dion having a feud with some backstage techies, Ian Dury having a fight with Omar Sharif (yes, the actor) and a tale involving Pete Townesend's testicles and a cat. Bring on volume two please!

We both listen to The Now Show and like Jon Holmes' bits! I bought this for my boyfriend and he hasn't stopped going on about it! Good one for your bloke, but be warned, it's rude!

5.0 out of 5 stars highly amusing, 7 Oct 2008
This book is a brilliant insight into the rock n roll lifestyles of many well loved and not so well loved musicians. Nikki Sixx and groupies, an exploding Pavarotti, The Boss and his canoe and Keith Richards's shepherds pie - there are too many to mention but my faviourite has to be Faith No More and a hotel hairdryer... Perfect source of offensive and amsuing anecdotes for the pub and not so perfect for anyone overtly sensitive.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rockers behaving badly
It's a given fact (much like Jane Austen's line about a single man et cetera) that rock stars not only behave badly, but that they always have done so. Read more
