Product Description

CD Description

Jeff Beck paid fitting Tribute to Les Paul, celebrating what would have been the pioneering guitarist’s 95th birthday by playing his friend and mentor’s music, along with classic tunes from the era, in the same Times Square nightclub that Paul played every Monday for 14 years before his death in August 2009.

Billed as “A Celebration of Les Paul,” Beck was joined by The Imelda May Band at the Iridium Jazz Club in June 2010. Other guest performers joining Beck onstage included Brian Setzer, Gary “U.S.” Bonds, and Trombone Shorty.

“Les was my inspiration,” says Beck. “For years I had always wanted to do something for Les to show him how much I respected and admired what he had done. Les used to play every week at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City, so for me it was the obvious and fitting place for a ‘Salute’ to him.”

This CD is a must have - containing 20 tracks to capture and celebrate the life of Les Paul.

50's delight 18 April 2011
Format:Audio CD
It says clearly on the cover that this is a tribute to Les Paul, so obviously the content would be 50's style. Why some people gave it a bad review because they were expecting jazz/rock is beyond me. This is an exhuberant and brash celebration of 50's music with great guests.

A BIT OF ALRIGHT 21 Feb 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Take the album style of 'Crazy legs'with its Gene Vincent roots.Widen the spectrum of musical choice.Make it a live performance. Add Imelda May and you've got a little bit of heaven. I mean,Jeff & Imelda, together, are something that had to happen. There are other excellent musicians also playing with Jeff on this celebration of Les Paul, so it is a party and well worth the dosh. Even the album cover keeps in line with those at the beginning of the rock n roll era when the 'Les Paul' was the guitar that everybody used to salivate over, but most of us could never afford ( not even Jeff back then ). Good times, good music,Precious memories,Lovely stuff.

f-f-f-f-fantastico! 25 Feb 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I heard 'How High The Moon' on the radio and ordered this album [and the DVD] the next day. This was like Les Paul supercharged with caffeine! Although of similar age to Jeff I had somehow missed the highlights of his career [Probably because The Yardbirds never featured in my personal hall of fame]
Guest artiste Imelda May was new to me too and she now has a new fan.
I reckon it would be impossible to play this CD and not feel happier as a result. In one word ... f-f-f-fantastico!
