Product Description

Product Description

Ronnie Wood has spent almost his entire life on the cutting edge of the rock world, as a member of some of the most influential bands in rock history, including The Faces and The Rolling Stones

ROCK ON WOOD was written with the full cooperation of the Wood clan and contains exclusive interviews with his Mother, Brothers and many friends. Here Ronnie's relationships with his fellow band mates and friends including ROD STEWART, GEORGE HARRISON and THE ROLLING STONES are laid bare through some insightful and thoughtful interviews, while his family's cooperation helps build up a private portrait of the man they call "Woody"

ROCK ON WOOD provides a fascinating insider's guide to the mad mad world of the sixties and seventies by charting Wood's ascent to international stardom with the Stones and the effect it had on his personal life. Ronnie Wood's experience of working with a huge range of musicians over more than four decades in the business, and his enduring appeal, not to mention his sometimes chaotic private life, makes this book invaluable for any serious rock aficionado.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHUT UP RONNIE, WE DON'T WANNA BE HAPPY 2 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This new edition is a great improvement, the early years are fascinating, especially the Mod stuff - and pretty hilarious as well. The timeline jumps about a bit but not so it becomes confusing. If you've read Ronnie's autobiography this one will fill in some of the gaps for you. I'm just going to start Jo's book now and see if I can complete the picture. Does anyone really know him though....?

4.0 out of 5 stars Mart on Ronnie Wood 6 Sep 2012

I really enjoyed the book but as a fellow guitar player I would have liked the author to have discussed guitars Ron used a bit more and other techniques used. How he developed slide guitar etc. Otherwise a great insight into the man

2.0 out of 5 stars sort of a list of events rather than a gripping tale 19 Jan 2014

Sure the history is interesting but it takes a long time to get started and if you want lots of details of hte early years then it is fine. But it turned into an effort to keep reading.

It is a regular guy sticking with what he loves to finally get to the big time. there are all the behind the scenes stories we had no idea about that makes for interesting reading, but nothing I was too surprised about regarding the life of a rock and roller. His connection with other musicians over the years is well documented and his connection with his own immediate family is great to read about. I bought the kindle version and having an older Kindle, the cool pictures were in black and white and I was not able to enlarge them. I will buy the book and suggest others do the same. I don't know what the capabilities of the online book readers are, so maybe that's not an issue with a newer or better reader. The pictures looked great.
3.0 out of 5 stars I've read a lot of biographies from artists of my era ~ this one just didn't move me 2 May 2013

I was on a roll. Keith Richards "Life" was magnificent. Gregg Allman's "My Cross to Bear" was pretty good, Neil Young's "Waging Heavy Peace" was full of history and wonder, "Bruce" was sensational. I was hoping to continue on this roll but this book just does not come close. I bought it months ago and have to force myself to read it. I know that I'll finish it and if I do and I change my mind, I'll redo the review but to me, it doesn't hold a candle to the excellence of most of the above books. Not even close.
