Product Description

Product Description

Rock Faces is the ultimate collection of rock 'n' roll images by 12 of the world's top photographers from the last 40 years. Industry heavyweights - Henry Diltz, Mick Rock, Ian Dickson, Bob Gruen, Michael Putland, Gered Mankowitz, Jill Furmanovsky, Claude Gassian, Steve Gullick, Danny Clinch, Kevin Westenberg, Kevin Cummins, and Rankin - choose their favourite twelve images each from their portfolios, and reveal their techniques, as well as the stories - and sometimes scandals - behind the shots and the acts they have photographed. Rock Faces is that rare backstage-pass, the elite VIP invite to the after-show party and every rock 'n' roll fan's dream. Capturing the raw essence of legends, from the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Roxy Music, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Blondie, The Jam, Sex Pistols, and the Ramones, to U2, REM, Madonna, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hole, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the White Stripes, and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book rocks!, 17 Sep 2004
This review is from: Rock Faces: The World's Top Rock 'n' Roll Photographers and Their Greatest Images (Hardcover)
I was delighted to find this book. I was on the lookout for a music photography book as a present for my husband and couldn't quite decide from the ten's that are already out there. However, once I picked this up I knew this was different. It is a superb collection of photos from the last 30-40 years and the fact it's from the angle of the photographer rather than a chonological collection, for example, really gives this book something extra that others just don't have. It makes fascinating reading but it's the whole package, with the excellent subjects chosen and the great reproduction, that makes it such a wonderful gift - for your friends or yourself. It's just brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great keepsake, 25 April 2007
This review is from: Rock Faces: The World's Top Rock 'n' Roll Photographers and Their Greatest Images (Hardcover)
Anyone who enjoys fashion, the rock scene and photographic portraits will want this book.

It is so beautifully produced and well laid out that it is impossible to pick your favourite photo. Each time you look at them will change your mind.

It covers not just one era of rock and roll like so many others, but skims through the ages giving us the best from each.

The only thing that is missing is Annie Leibowitz but then she has her own books and this one is every bit as good.
