Book Description

Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicting matters, Lee has decided he's interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies).

Indy's best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

    About the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

    More About the Author

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

    Nothing's changed.

All Kristen has ever wanted to do was write (well, and be the Queen of the World, but you gotta start small). Somehow, she got into the charity biz and found another calling. She worked for the Rocky Mountain MS Center and the Colorado Neurological Institute before moving to England. Now she does both, working for The Pituitary Foundation in Bristol, UK by day, sitting at her computer typing out stories by night.

Kristen now lives in England and got there by way of Denver, where she lived for twelve years, but she grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Her Mom moved her and her brother and sister in with their grandparents when Kristen was six. Her grandparents had a daughter much younger than her Mom so they all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. Kristen grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers and REO Speedwagon (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, entertaining, value for money. 16 July 2009
    Format:Paperback
A very funny, absorbing book- and value for money, because it's got plenty of action, plenty of laughs and plenty of pages!

What does a Rock chick do, when she's adored a guy from afar, and then she grows up a little and finds he's not her type after all? What if she gets into a really dangerous fix with some murderous criminal types and finds that she needs his help? Read the book and discover how the feisty heroine makes out.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous 6 Jun. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The first books I have read from KA was the Dream Men series, which I am in love with. Then I read the two books in the Chaos series. I have seen Rock Chick books but I didn't really fancy them. I thought I would give them a try because I have so far loved the others books by KA.
This book so did not disappoint. I was hooked. Gun fire, kidnapping, car bombs, dead people, hot guy and a hot girl who will not do what hot guy tells her and has a bff that she will walk in front of a train for. What's not to love?
During this book the banter between Tax and India, Ally and India and Duke and Tex were lol funny. (My daughter would look at me funny when I did this)
It was not as intense like the Dream Men series but I got a better look at Lee Nightingale character as he is in one form or another in the Dream Men series, (only in bit places)
I really enjoyed this book and I can not wait to read more of the Rock Chick books, I only wish I did sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock Chick 3 Jun. 2009
    By Mrs. M.
    Format:Paperback
A debut novel written with passion & a superb background knowledge. It is feisty, fast-moving and absorbing. Will the two main characters ever get it together? A book of crime, intrigue, cruelty, sex & an underlying love story which leaves you frustrated & eager to read the next chapter.
    Brilliantly left for future adventures!

    5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Romp 23 Jun. 2009
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The story romps along (in both senses of the word) at a dizzying rate. Realistic dialogue and larger than life yet completely believable characters. One of the best of the genre.
Probably not suitable for younger teens or people of delicate sensibilities...

    4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 23 July 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Indy is a sassy book shop owner, who loves to rock out and generally live her life to the full. She has been in love with Lee since she was five years old and hoped they would be together forever. Lee is the local bad ass, tough guy who runs his own investigative business (and other underground activities) He has known Indy since she was a child but for the past 10 years they have been estranged due to a fly away comment he made when she was twenty. Now, however, they are thrown together to recover some diamonds which Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost that belonged to the big bad guys! Thereafter follows exploding cars, hit and runs, kidnapping....well what you expect from a Kristen Ashley book.

I have been slowly reading my way through Ms Ashley's back catalogue of books and have been reading her most recent works which I ADORE!. Hell yeah! Rock Chick was one of her first series and I can tell from the first few chapters that this is so. Indy, at first, is an annoying character and trying to be funny which sometimes just irritated me. However as the book went on I came to understand the reasoning for this. Lee was ultimately gorgeous and lush, which is my pull to read Kristen's books. She knows how to create a bossy hot ass mofo!

I did enjoy this book but just not so much as her Dream Man series or Colorado Mountain series. However, there is no way I would not read the rest of this series. It is Kristen Ashley after all with the badassary (a Kristen word haha) you come to yearn for! Yup - next!

    5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious 24 Jun. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This really is a great opening to a series. Indy's character is brilliantly funny. She has a quick mouth, crazy ideas and an impenetrable sense of fun. I think most people wish they could be a little more like her and her friends. But what I loved most is that even with all that, she is made so real because of her vulnerable moments.

Then there's Lee and his 'boys'. I don't really think it's fair to call them that though because they really aren't boys...they're incredibly badass men. Lee in particular...he may be a little pushy and closed off most the time, but he's still a great male lead. I can't wait for more of his guys!

One of my favourite things about this book is the dialogue between Indy and Tex...the guy is simply a comic genius (even though its unintentional). I also loved the fact paced progress of the crazy goings on in the life of Indy Savage, as it kept me wanting to just forget my own life and know what would happen to her next.

Basically, this is a great book. I think I actually cried with laughter at some of it and I'm positive that it won't ever bore me...no matter how many times I read it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! (especially if you're in a down mood, perks you right up!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Well I'm not quite sure about this book!! 18 Sept. 2014
    By Sue D
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Have read through three series of Kristen Ashley books looking for the source of Lee Nightingale the mysterious and cool PI who pops up every now and then, does his good deed and disappears again. I was eventually of course pointed in the direction of"Rock Chick", the last place I would have looked for some reason, but when I did I was quite disappointed. There really was no mystery about Lee, he came from a good solid close family, and was a man who just seemed to be born with special skills and a family who were in the police force. Lee's heart's desire is Indy a very whacky 30 something rock chick who clearly didn't want to grow up ever but had been in love with Lee since she was 5 years old. I felt sorry for poor Lee she was so whacky sometimes it was silly. However she was exceedingly funny and on occasion, and I did laugh out loud a few times (it would have been even funnier had she been 18 ish!). It was of course very well written I am just a bit disappointed in my hope's for Lee. Sorry all you Rock Chick fan's I guess I'm just not a Rock Chick after all! The story did end suddenly and if I'm at a loss one day I will persevere through the series and maybe I will hear more of Lee and Indy. Here's hoping.
