Both Cherish and Rock Me Baby Albums were released in 1972. These were David's first two solo albums and were much more mature than the Partridge Family music sound. Every song on these two album were richly recorded in arrangements by David's producer Wes Farrell, the result is absolutely brilliant! Such are the arrangements and tune of the music any one of the songs featured could have been released as a single. As it happens Cherish spawned three massive hit singles: 'Cherish' 'Could it be forever' and 'I am a clown'. 'Rock Me Baby' and the number one smash hit single 'How can I be sure' here in the UK. 'Could it be forever' is my all time favourite David Cassidy song. It's just simply brilliant! Just note worthy the version of 'Could it be forever' and 'I am a Clown' are the original hit recordings on the Cherish Album unlike on the David Cassidy & Partridge Family compilation CDs where they are different versions and sound watered down and edited.

All the songs are real standouts. David's second solo album Rock Me Baby sounds even more mature than Cherish and has a bit more of an edge to it, notably in 'Rock me baby' & 'Warm my soul'. I think 'Two time loser' is one of David's standout's on Rock Me Baby Album. It's a brilliant ballad that easily could have been a massive hit if it was release as a single back then in the 1972, but instead was the B Side to 'Rock Me Baby'.

This brand new release as a double album on one CD has been freshly remastered and the sound quality is breathtaking! Really. Though it does not deter from the previous single album CD releases. The CD cover is fantastic as well as the back that shows new fonts of the tracklisting as can be view on this amazon website. The booklet is well written and very informative.

I guess as a male in his 40s, I'm not the usual Cassidy audience, but his version of How Can I Be Sure has always been a favourite of mine so thought this was worth checking out....and I'm glad I did.
For me, the Cherish album is the much stronger of the two, with lush orchestration and harmonies throughout, with barely a duff track. The singles Could It be Forever, Cherish and I Am A clown still sound good and Being Together and Blind Hope are absolute gems.
The second album doesn't work quite as well with David trying to shake off his teenybop image with an edgier sound. The title track having a relatively low chart placing at the height of his fame would seem to back this up. However it's still very listenable and he really does have a great voice.
Youngsters today really are getting a raw deal with the drivel that is current chart music, when compared with something like this that really does have some class.

Simply amazing! 70s teen heartthrob he may have been, super talented he undoubtably was.
Cherish slightly teen idol material leads the way into Rock Me Baby a masterpiece of musicianship.
