Having enjoyed Robot Wars when it was first broadcast, I decided on a whim to buy this and the other two DVDs in the Robot Wars Ultimate Warrior Collection.

Each disk follows a common format. Presented by the robot builders themselves, we learn about the design, construction and evolution of each robot and get a chance to see their finest battles.

Razer - Probably the best of the 3 disks. Team Razer are immediately comfortable in front of the camera. Their enthusiasm shines through. We get to see Razer's landmark battles from the early mechanical failures through to their eventual two world championship wins. Along the way, we learn a good deal about Razer's design and development. This disk adds a bonus section of frequently asked questions. 5 stars.

Chaos 2 - The creator of Chaos 2 is a fine engineer and one of the best drivers in Robot Wars. However, he is less comfortable infront of the camera. This disk concentrates less on the development of the robot and is poorer for it. However, the featured battles are extremely entertaining. Robot after robot is hurled around (and even out of) the arena. Not even the house robots are safe! 4 stars.

Hypnodisc - This disk was a real surprise. I hadn't expected to enjoy it as much as Hypnodisc has never won a major title but what battles it has had along the way. Hypnodisc's first two opponents went home in a cardboard box, so total was their destruction! Like the Razer disk, we get to hear a lot about Hypndisc's development and this is one robot that's developed a lot, even to the point of a total redesign and rebuild. More than any other robot, Hypnodisc has gone from strength to strength in terms of destructive power. Hypnodisc may never have won a major title but for laugh out loud mayhem, this disk is the tops. 5 stars.

if you know anything about Robot Wars you'll know about Razer, it's amazing destructive crushing claw/beak (to which one of the house robots fell victim to) and weight reducing holes make this robot unique. You only have to look at it to know that it could cause a lot of damage to any other robot that it comes up against, and that's exactly what it does, most of the time...
Razer has a history of unreliability, who can forget the fight between Aggrobot and Razer in Robot Wars Series 3? Razer would have most likely won the match on damage, style and control, but during what most people would call it's victory pose, the machine rendered itself immobile by lifting the back wheels off of the arena floor.
all this and more can be seen on the DVD plus the questions the Razer team (Ian Lewis, Simon Scott and Vincent Blood) are often asked. if you like, love or adore Robot Wars you'll want to add this DVD to your collection.

The DVD was virtually unplayable on two different players after about 20 mins play, probably due to the poor state of its surface when examined. However the seller honored the no quibble guarantee without question and gave a refund on return of the DVD so I got my money back. The part of the DVD I did see was pretty good but I dont know what happened in the end!
