I bought this so that my wife could give it to me for Christmas 2009! My wife has given me some awesome Christmas presents! (Usually the ones that I've purchased and given to her to wrap for me on Christmas Eve!!)

I loved watching "Robot Wars" on TV in America. We used to watch it on PBS (Public Broadcasting System) which is non-commercial, user funded and supported television in America. I was exposed to all of my favorite British shows by watching PBS (Are You Being Served, Hettie Wainthrop Investigates, Campion, Cadfael, Vicar of Dibley, Mrs Bradley Mysteries, Born and Bred, Monarch of the Glen, A Year in Provence and Ballykissangel to name a few. These are just the ones that I've purchased on DVD already. Others include Rumpole of the Bailey, Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister, Chef, Inspector Morse, Prime Suspect and UFO [with S.H.A.D.O.] and on and on! I'm saving up to make some more purchases of these shows next.) I also purchased a DVD player coded for British DVDs so that I could play them on my TV in the US.

Anyway, it was such a walk down "memory lane" to see the "Robot Wars" DVDs, although I was expecting the DVDs to be more like a collection of the actual broadcasts for the series - meaning I thought it would be like watching the episodes by season, including all the elimination battles leading up to the season finale.

Instead, they are compilation shows which show highlights of the battles and focus primarily on the House Robots, Chaos 2, Hypno-Disc and Razer. It's really like a documentary about "Robot Wars." Definitely worth owning for the "Robot Wars" die-hard fan!

It was really great to have "behind the scenes" interviews with the crew for each of the featured robots and also the House Robots.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great set of Robot Wars excerpts 24 Jan 2010
By F. Jaap
Format:DVD
This has 4 DVDs, 3 focussing on 3 of the best robots from the programme, and the 4th all about the house robots. Very well produced, with lots of discussion on the improvements made as the series went on. If you liked this show you'll enjoy the DVDs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as exiting as the series 8 Mar 2013
By Mr Benn
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This was a good DVD for adults of a certain age however, if you were looking at reliving the past from the TV shows you will be disappointed, the discs cover the back commentary of the main RW machines but do not really show any of the series as viewed on telly, it will not engage with kids much but for "old fossils" 45+) it will be interesting
