Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

As you might expect, Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction is the game of the TV programme. The aim, put at its simplest, is to build the best robot you can, and watch it destroy the competition--or watch the competition destroy your creation. Your first task, then, has to be to design your own robot. A visit to the shop lets you buy components, or, if the budget is tight, the scrap yard might be a better bet. Weapons, armour and power of some sort are all required, and if there's any money left in the kitty you can add some extras, even down to deciding a paint scheme. When you're happy with your robot, the battle can commence.

The Robot Wars arena is reminiscent of the TV programme, and you could content yourself simply with building better and better robots with which to pound the opposition. Alternatively, there's a training ground for honing skills, and a robot trading area, where you can buy and sell bots. There are numerous playing options, ranging from a full tournament to a free-play mode in which you can choose a location depending on how many credits you've won in previous battles.

Robot Wars is an addictive game which is all the more fun if you can play it with a friend. Let the tournament begin! --Sandra Vogel

Product Description

The game is structured around a Robot workshop, featuring an array of components, including bodyshells, weapons and armour, allowing almost limitless variations of robot creation. And if you don't want to build your own or practise, you can select from one of the pre-built robots and get straight into battle. And finally--Robot Wars! You can select the classic television arena, or one of a number of international venues. Now you can go head to head with the infamous house robots, accompanied by a driving soundtrack and commentary.

This, Robot Wars A.O.D., is the latest in the cycle of Robot Wars games. In this game you have to build a robot from scratch and pit it against the best of the best in the world finals! You will go against previous robots that were in the competition such as Hypno Disc and Panic Attack. Starting with two-thousand credits you create a professional career, Johnathan Pierce commetating every step of the way!

The first thing that struck me with this game was the brilliant robot-builder option. After you stock up on the essentials - Power source, wheels and drive function, you can add vicious from static spikes to furious flamethrowers! Different armour types add defence and paint jobs can strike fear into your opponents!

Other features include vengance matches, sumo and 'The Gauntlet'. The best things (for me) about this game are the arenas and the house robots. Flame torches out of the floor, The Pit Of Oblivion opens and the mighty floor flipper tosses you into the air - and for added humiliaton, you get slammed against the wall by (either) Sir Killalot, Matilda, Shunt or St. Bash.

Sadly to every game there is at least one let-down, and for this game it is most probably the looping soundtrack - but I only noticed that while it was loading - which can get frustrating.

This game is worth a great four stars thanks to it's addictive gameplay!

Give it a chance 2 Dec 2002
If you enjoyed the series, you will undoubtably ejoy the game. All the main characters such as Chaos 2,Hypnodisc and Razor are in the game and the house robots are very realistic. The gameplay is much better than the other reviews suggest. Although it takes a while to get used to, once you have it is very addictive and unique.

The PS2 has very few games like this, although if you are a fan of Wrestling games or beat em ups, you are also likely to like this. The 'Create a Robot' section is very enjoyable, with lots of weapons used in the series, e.g. chainsaw. However, it takes a long time saving up from winning competitions to make your ideal robot.

For the price, it is well worth the money. Its lifespan isn't as high as most would like, although when treated as a beat em up, is great fun with a friend.

Robot wars is great on the ps2 you can build your on robot entering in the world championship. You can even have a battle with your mates and the house robots!! The only down side to the game is that the graphics don't meet the standard that you normally find and the camera views are really anoying and the in game commentry can be a bit confusing.

Great fun, but the physics could be better
This is definitely my favourite robot wars game, as it has the best range of weapons and extras. It is also good that the makers have added vengeance battles as a gameplay option. Read more

I liked this game, although if your console is a little worn out it can run slowly and the music may loop every 5 or so seconds. Read more
