4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but not quite the best 22 Mar 2002
By A Customer
The main thing about this package is that it contains all 4 films in the mini-series, which is important as each adventure follows on from the next and the tension and danger mounts through the series until it reaches a high extreme in CRASH AND BURN. It also introduces us to John Cable and re-introduces James Murphy (Alex Murphy's son)and finally finishes the Robocop story.

4.0 out of 5 stars There... Will... Be... Trouble... 28 July 2002
The famous phrase uttered by Robocop in the original movie returns, and you know your in for hours of entertainment, as Murphy aka Robocop searchs for a purpose and wonders why he was ever brought back, its 10 years later and he is stuck down in the basement of the police station nearly in mothballs, OCP no longer providing the support he needs, his systems are slowly winding down, a lone mother figure tends to him the best she can, but he is alone. and then all hell brakes lose, a manic by the name of Bone Machine is turning Delta City into a War Zone and Robocop is the only one who can stop him, but as always the corrupted OCP is in deep end of it all, Murphy inlists the help of a old friend 'John Cable' to help uncover the corruption, but this action cost's his friend's 'Cable' life. Driving Murphy over the edge... and thats only the beginning...
This is a Amazing Story across 4 great DVD's bringing closure to the Robocop Saga and reveals Murphy's Quest for his Humanity, and above presents a tribute to one of best Sci-Fi Action movies ever made...
Sadly the only thing missing from this great box set is the Directors and Writers audio track on the DVD's , but for this price you can't really complain about the lack of extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best thing ever! 18 April 2002
By A Customer
this is a new 4-part series (6 hours in total!) it's without a doubt the best thing since, well... robocop! in my opinion it's better than the sequels and the original tv series put together. it has everything a robocop film should have... guns, swearing, violence and explosions! each episode co-insides with the other, so you need to watch them in order. but it is definately something i could watch again and again without getting tired of. it looks surprisingly fairly big budget. and what more could you want than TWO robocops having a big fight! the dvd is hardly the best dvd ever made. there's no extra features whatsoever, but the whole set is definately worth it for the films! skip the sequels and watch this instead! (oh and check out the guy playing bone machine... he's so O.T.T.!)

This three-disc set of TV movies starts off well with some nice ideas: murphy has always had an element of duality being half man, half machine, but it's more pronounced now he's organic body is hitting it's fifties while his metal body is still as bad-ass as ever. Murphy has become more consciouss, and in doing so become more disillusioned... he managde to overcome his "death" with beliefs and hopes, but they've just not been fulfilled... OCP starts stiring things up again.
While this sounds very deep and interesting - and obviously foreshadows what is to come - it lets itself down well before the end. There's a lot of repetitive action, repetitive *plotting* (how many times will robocop and cable get reprogrammed?) and obvious plot-padding... most disappointing as there was obviously room for greater character development, and that as the set gets near it's end they throw some plot-devices in to speed things up when they realise everything is *so* directionless. The acting is also pretty awful, aside from Murphy/Robocop himself, his underused elderly tech assistant and *sometimes* Cable.
OCP play a major part in the storyline again, but all the characters from the original films are gone, as pretty much are their legacies. There's a new crowd in the boardroom now, and although their schemes and backstabbing are vaguely interesting (especially considering the identity of one of them), their ultra-hammy acting, poor virtual sets and plot contradictions and absurdaties over the movies greatly lets them down. You'll be pleased to note that the trademark satirical news broadcasts are littered throughout all three movies, and are great... not too biting, but pretty funny.
There are giant plot-holes throughout these three TV movies, aimless plotting, plot padding and repetitive plotting...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 10 Jan 2005
Probably the worst of Scifi Channels various mini series, which is a shame because its a great property. If only theyd got some comic writers involved.
The set up in the first two parts never pays off, and the finale especially is very weak.
Really, they needed a new design for RoboCable other than just a bronze version of robocop too.
In order of how good this is compared to other Robo properties:
1) Robocop Directors cut
2) Robocop 2
3) Original Robocop
4) Robocop 3
5) Robocop animated series (original one)
6) Robocop TV series
7) This mini series
8) Robocop Alpha Commando animation

4.0 out of 5 stars frankly .... impressed 14 May 2002
I do love the first two robocop films, the third was a bit iffy but the first two were works of genius.
Then came the series and still robocop grabbed me, there is just something about the whole genre that speaks of excellence in the acting, direction, production, scriptwriting and above all, humanity of robocop. There is something about the stories and the very concept that says something very humane, something that speaks to us all. The whole concept of life after death, fear of death, morality is there. Also there is the regrets of the past, reflection on missed chances and all the things that we love we sooner or later can no longer experience. Something that Robocop deals with a great deal. And this i feel speaks to us.
So when i heard of these four new tv movies i was hesitant, worried that they wouldn't remain faithful to the orgianal films, and all the aspects that i have spoken of.
Well after watching Dark Justice i was immensly relieved to see that they didn't leave out a thing. The action scenes are perfect, the acting is good, the direction and production are flawless. And, most importantly, the human aspects are present. There is still the whole dealing with death and our fear of it. There is still the reflection on the past and, in many ways, the questions of what it is to be human. Because, and this is obviously a huge over-reading into what Robocop is, but for me the most important thing is to follow Robocop in his struggle to understand what he was, what he is, and what it means to be human.
These broad themes are continued through-out the four specials and every concept is dealt with with tact and skill. This set is a worthy addition to the robocop legacy and a worthy addition to any home video/dvd collection. Non-robocop fans may find it hard to get into but give it a chance - there is something so human about Robocop and the storylines that you will find it hard to dislike from a story point of view. Well worthy of four stars.
