Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Although I've had this for only a couple of days I just love it; I've never had an Internet radio before, so this is foreign territory to me, so bear with me.

Reggie's five star review has covered all the technical bits and bobs and all the features, and as I'm not a techie, I'll give you my opinion based on today's non-stop usage.

Firstly, although it's not the smartest looking radio it has a certain appeal with it's solid little body clothed in black gloss, and sporting a satiny metal handle on the top. The controls are easy to use, as is the remote, and there are various apertures at the back for Ethernet cable, USB port, headphone jack etc. It has lovely little rubber feet to stop it slipping and sliding about. When not in use it displays the date and time - very handy.

Sound - fantastic! I'm listening to Chillout Lounge and it really is great: clear, sharp and bassy. Earlier I listened to one or two other stations such as BBC Radios 2 and 6, all with excellent reception and sound. I'm astonished at the number of stations available! This morning I got connected to a station somewhere in the Caribbean - amazing. Suddenly the world is in my living room. The display screen not only lets you know which station you're listening to, but some stations provide the music details - artist and track name.

The instruction book is a beefy beast - all English - and I haven't read right through it, but following the instructions for setting it up I found it really quite easy. I'm now working my way through the book to see what else it will do. I love the idea of plugging in a memory stick loaded with your own music, just in case there's nothing on all the hundreds of stations you want to listen to!

Excellent radio, more user friendly than the 83i ( of which I have two ) looks prettier as well. The streaming from spotify with a premium account works well but not really necessary. Can now save 30 presets for each mode of operation dab/internet radio/ media. Can access these via a 'preset select button on the front panel though the first five are tied to the buttons on the front just like the 83i. The USB port has been moved to the back ( was on the front of the 83i) I have one of those tiny 32gb usb drives full of mp3 music and this can be played directly from within 'media' mode. Remote is good , sound still excellent - you can get them cheaper than this (£150) by shopping around, some folk do have them in stock. The only thing missing from the spec to my mind is Bluetooth - which is a strange omission given everything else it has. I obviously like these things since I have two of the 83i ( the 83i are rubbish as bedside alarms though since the display doesn't go dark enough and still lights up a dark room with a blue light ) . The 93i display is colour and goes dark if required when on standby - much better in a darkened room . Alarms are more accessible now as well , with a dedicated button on the front panel . I guess I could deduct half a star for the lack of Bluetooth and the fact that it is mains only - but that would be churlish - it does what it does extremely well - I had a look at the pure f4 - which does have Bluetooth - but frankly I just reckon that this is a better piece of kit

I already have an older 83i and decided to purchase a 2nd unit, the 93i didn't disappoint quite simply if you're after a good quality sounding radio with lots of functions this is certainly well worth looking at. Very easy set-up, the sound good and the unit is compact. Oh don't forget you can also download the Roberts connectr app on you phone so you can control your radio from your armchair, kitchen, or even Garden. I purchased mine from Amazon Market Place via "Bridport Music" and it arrived within 24hrs.

This lovely radio is a rework/update of Roberts Stream 83i. Roberts have responded to customer feedback by making an excellent radio even better! If you want to know about this radio in detail then you can read some of the many reviews that give the 83i 5/5. I'll concentrate on some of the changes:

The Display is now stunning. It's crisp and clear and in colour and exceeds the displays on the Pure internet radios. No more blue glow at night. The display will show the icon of the station you are listening to or the album cover of the artist, if available. All in colour. It will depend on what the station is broadcasting. Otherwise the mode icon (eg FM radio) is displayed instead. Displaying these icons does take up some real estate on the display but you can't have your cupcake and eat it. It just means that long artist/title information, news, weather etc will take more lines to auto scroll through.

The Buttons for Mode, Menu, Back etc have been enlarged and are easier to press but the Standby button is smaller and no longer lighted. There is now an Alarm button that takes you straight to alarm settings. There was some criticism of the earlier model that alarm settings were difficult to get to, being several menu items deep. There is a new Preset button that will take you to a menu and allow you to store 40 channels in DAB, FM and Internet Radio modes. You can still store five stations instantly from the numbered buttons on the front. As there are now around 24,000 Internet stations to choose from, having more presets is great.

The Last.fm 'love' and 'ban' buttons have gone. Last.fm is going through hard times and earlier this year ceased their streaming services to devices such as this radio, so the buttons are now somewhat redundant on the 83i.
