Great value with superb sound quality on DAB, use it in the bedroom, only minor issue is you can't see the buttons when you want turn off, I over came this by cutting out a small piece of Velcro and sticking on the on/off button.

I bought this as a bedside alarm/DAB radio. However, though you can turn the 'moonlight' off fully (would be great if you needed a bright nightlight) unless you set the display dim to the lowest value you can't get rid of the blue glow around the control knob. When set to any low value you can't see the time in the dark! The buttons are on the top and flat - so from the side you can't feel whether you are in the correct place (and whilst most of the buttons will undim the time display some do still operate even when no radio). The alarms are relatively easy to set. The sound is brilliant (speaker projects down and uses the surface the device is on to help add depth. Volume is easy to regulate and it found all the DAB stations. You can use the message facility to make a personal alarm message(!) but in a bedroom it's a bit of a gimmick. Could be better with a bigger screen, better buttoning and more thought given to lights. Wouldn't be happy if I hadn't got it on a 'deal'.

I love this radio completely. The sound is great and the styling unusual. Another reviewer complained about the light, but you can set the brightness level or turn the light off altogether. I set up the radio and pre set my chanels without reading the manual - it is so intuitive and I am an old lady (57). It has a small footprint and a very thick rubber cushion underneath it so the anti slip as well as the sound quality is improved. The message feature will be well used too in this house. This is my second Roberts Radio. I have another model in another room and got fed up toting it about. I picked another Roberts as I am so happy with the quality. If you can cope with the quirky styling, this is a brilliant radio for the money with a good rich sound.

I borrowed a sample of this product for free to use for a week and I have to say I was fairly impressed. I hadn't used a DAB before, but the thing was pretty intuitive.

Pros:
+ Slim profile--very nice for a small bedside table
+ Good sound quality for the size
+ Good DAB reception, even in my basement flat

Cons:
- Message record functionality is gimmicky and pretty pointless
- Blue light in the base is very bright--this is supposed to be adjustable, but following the instructions exactly I was unable to switch it off or even dim it.

Overall I've been very pleased with it, and for the price it's a pretty good little unit. If the light was adjustable (as it claims to be--but it didn't work for me), it would be an ideal bedroom radio.

I've had this radio for a few months now and it's most definitely become part of the furniture. I find the DAB reception for my favourite stations to be consistently good (DAB reception is often poor in this area) and every bit as good (if not better) than the other DAB radios I have dotted around the house.

I use this as a bedside radio and alarm clock and it's plugged into the mains (with batteries inserted for alarm back-up purposes) so I can't comment on battery life. The sound quality is perfectly acceptable to my perfectly ordinary ears.

I am unable to make any apposite observations about many of the features of the radio as the majority hold no interest for me. I love the alarm feature which allows you to set separate alarms for weekdays and week-ends - this means that I can go for weeks without having to alter it (but when I do I have to reach for the instruction manual as I've forgotten how to do it!). The other feature I make good use of is the sleep timer that allows me to fall asleep to listening to the radio but not be woken up by it a couple of hours later.

If I was to make any criticism at all it would be that I find the buttons on the top of the radio are impossible to see unless I'm above them and sometimes a little tricky to operate.

Overall, I'm happy with the radio ....it's a keeper for me.

I love the quality and feel of this radio and it delivers performance to complement the appearance. Check the size it may be a little bigger that you expect but its worth it!

This is a very neat DAB/FM radio with a few tricks up its sleeve. It also features two message memory banks where you can record and leave a message for other occupants of your home - very useful in a world where family members are passing ships in the night. It is suitable for a kitchen, bedroom or living area. As I see it these are the other pros and cons of this set;

Pros

- A nicely styled and constructed radio which delivers really good sound for its size. I live near the Sussex Coast where DAB reception is difficult for my HiFi tuner but not it seems for this Roberts DAB radio which pulls in about a dozen DAB stations and plenty on FM too using only the modest write antenna supplied.
- The volume is good and can be cranked almost all the way up before distortion sets in and has that "signature" mellow Roberts tone.
- Settings for alarms etc. are quite logical and have their own large, clear buttons on the top panel.
- Ten presets each on DAB and FM bands plus a nice clear backlit display for tuning, RDS data, time and date etc.
- Mains or battery powered using 4 X C Size cells - inserting batteries seems to give the resilience to mains failure for the alarm settings etc. It uses a separate mains adaptor.
- Headphone, auxiliary input and USB upgrade sockets.
- Clear indication of waiting message(s).
- Because of the vertical design it has a small footprint and the underside is rubberised to prevent scratching furniture.

Cons

- Slightly complex controls for some functions - the backlight for the clock/tuning display are controlled in an entirely different way to the "Moonlight" which illuminates the port underneath the radio and dials etc.
