The MessageR is a clever compact DAB digital radio with a handy message record function enabling you to record voice messages, perfect for if you suddenly remember something whilst in the midst of cooking but don’t have time to write it down! You can even set a time for the voice memo to go off. It is also perfect for the kitchen as it includes a useful egg timer. Alongside these other great features the MessageR includes a mood light with eight brightness settings as well as 20 station presets, snooze function and sleep timer.

I borrowed a sample of this product for free to use for a week and I have to say I was fairly impressed. I hadn't used a DAB before, but the thing was pretty intuitive.

Pros:
+ Slim profile--very nice for a small bedside table
+ Good sound quality for the size
+ Good DAB reception, even in my basement flat

Cons:
- Message record functionality is gimmicky and pretty pointless
- Blue light in the base is very bright--this is supposed to be adjustable, but following the instructions exactly I was unable to switch it off or even dim it.

Overall I've been very pleased with it, and for the price it's a pretty good little unit. If the light was adjustable (as it claims to be--but it didn't work for me), it would be an ideal bedroom radio.

Great value with superb sound quality on DAB, use it in the bedroom, only minor issue is you can't see the buttons when you want turn off, I over came this by cutting out a small piece of Velcro and sticking on the on/off button.

I bought this as it looked good, was quite compact and at a price I was prepared to pay.

Do NOT buy this as a bedside alarm clock unless Roberts upgrade the software. Why? Simply that in the event of a power cut it switches the alarm off. OK I appreciate that if the power is off when the alarm would normally sound and you are running off the mains it's not going to work, but if you get a power cut in the night (however brief) although it remembers the radio stations you have saved to the pre-sets, the time and type of alarm you have selected it just goes to "off" - dohh! Not very good if you rely upon it to make that train, bus or journey to work/school. It's a shame; so wait for the software upgrade or look elsewhere.

The brightness colour contrast is also not good in a bedroom unless you like Blackpool illuminations!

Other than that it's a really good little radio that will also run off batteries away from the mains.
