Book Description

17 May 2006
Russia's authoritarian leaders are preparing a blitzkrieg campaign designed to overrun several central Asian republics before the West can intervene. To succeed in this risky enterprise, however, they must first sow confusion and fear in the ranks of their enemies. With that in mind, they turn to Konstanin Malkovic - one of the world's wealthiest and most powerful men. Malkovic possesses a newly developed, genetically keyed bio-weapon. Undetectable and incurable, it is the perfect assassin's tool. Only Lieutenant Colonel Jon Smith and his Covert One operatives can stop this murderous conspiracy and thwart the Kremlin's bid to restore Russian to her former power¿

1.0 out of 5 stars Robert Ludlum's The Moscow Vector 14 Aug 2005
Format:Hardcover
No star. Robert Ludlum has passed away but, if he could, I bet he wishes he could return to Earth to banish this pathetic and lazy effort to pulp damnation. What a complete load of tosh. Patrick Larkin has rushed off a mind-numbing piece of garbage - it was so bad I read it from cover to cover in about 2 hours - you could easily miss out 70% of the text and still get the drift of the plot - which, by the way, was the sort of thing only the most dull-witted amongst us would find interesting. However, if you like Dan Brown then you may just like this book - but if you prefer Ludlum in the original then read or re-read Bourne - whatever you do, avoid this fake. Its rubbish.

I quite enjoyed this book. This is the 2nd book i've read from this author, and in both books he is prone to over-dramatisation. Which for me, only serves to alienate me from the text because the descriptions of events are just surreal. Whilst there is some over-dramatisation, this book is written in a much better tone than the other book of Ludlum's i read: I couldn't relate to the text in one of the Bourne books and gave up half way through, frustrated and annoyed by the over excited tone of the text.

This book is different. I enjoyed reading this title and it was quite easy to picture the scenes in my mind and live through them. The entire text carried a light charge of excitement throughout and i enjoyed reading the English text speech of the Russian characters, spelled as should sound by a tongue native to Russia.

I felt the plot quite well developed and on the whole a higher standard than some other texts i've read in this genre.

I'm now considering other texts from this author, though i will stay away from the Jason Bourne drivel.

I have really enjoyed reading htis book. Of ocurse, the plot is pretty daft but who cares. The Russians are the villains, the Americans are the good guys -- the world is nice and simple! Plenty of good locations, well described: all over Europe, both West and East. I have read books by American authors which read as if they took the content of hte encyclopdia and dumped them into the chapter about e.g. Prague -- totally over the top. But this boo is far more restrianed so it doesn't get stuck into boring detail.

The action keeps skipping along and encourages you to keep you reading. I read the first 70 pages in one evening, and that os not something I often do. The real writer is not Ludlum, which is probably why the book is such a good read.
