Book Description

The brand new Covert-One thriller from a master storyteller and global bestseller

Product Description

When a US Special Forces team is wiped out by a group of normally peaceful farmers in Uganda, Covert-One operative Jon Smith is sent to investigate.

Video of the attack shows even women and children possessing almost supernatural speed and strength, consumed with a rage that makes them immune to pain, fear and all but the most devastating injuries.

Smith finds evidence of a parasitic infection that for centuries has been causing violent insanity and then going dormant. This time, though, it's different. And as Smith and his team are cut off from all outside support, they begin to suspect that forces much closer to home are in play...

2.0 out of 5 stars How can you have Ludlum's name on this? 9 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story itself is okay, if slightly over reliant on "with a single bound our heroes are free" type stuff at times. The concern I have is why Robert Ludlum's name is so high profile on the cover of this book, when according to an appendix he passed away in 2001? How can he possibly be counted as an "author"? I think this amounts to mis-representation and the publishers should desist in this fraud.

3.0 out of 5 stars A new writer for Ludlum 29 Aug 2013
Format:Paperback
For a famous writer who died a decade ago he does get to have a lot of books published. I loved the early Covert One books but it does take a bit of a leap to adjust to each new writer. They all have their own style & take a while to settle in.

I would have preferred James Cobb of The Arctic Event to have had another book, just so he could have followed up upon the introduction of Randi Russell.

Kyle Mills does a competent job, just not one that grips the reader as much as those of the late Robert Ludlum. The pages go by & the plot moves nicely to keep you reading. Good holiday reading, just not more than average in the series.

Try it out if you like the other books of Kyle Mills.

This was the only Covert Ops book that I hadn't read. I enjoyed all the previous ones and I am sure I will enjoy this one when I get round to it. It was supplied by Awesome Books which ensured that it was in good condition and delivered on time.

Purchased for my brother who is a heavy consumer of historical fiction and modern day thrillers. He enjoyed it very much and would recommend it to readers of similar preferances.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average
A bit heavy on the blood thirsty angle, scary scenario described. Characters could have been more developed. Good to keep up with series.
