Review

REVIEW OF PREVIOUS EDITION

"A classic primer of medical education...A current, succinct, and easily comprehensible text, which covers the essence of human pathology. Medical students and course directors will certainly appreciate the new edition. The authors should be commended on the continued improvement of a respected teaching resource." - "Modern Pathology"

REVIEW OF CURRENT EDITION

"The book maximises on presentation by using clear headings and sub headings, good quality colour plates, diagrams and tables. In common with many other Elsevier books, it's attractively presented. The authors are keen for the reader to learn about the advances in the field and have included details of these breakthroughs. The pathology textbook I bought as a student was just under half the price of this one and was left mostly on the shelf being largely unreadable with monochrome only illustrations and no extra features. That makes this book good value for money I would say!

Dr. Sager, Univadis, December 2008

4.0 out of 5 stars Robbins Review 9 Aug 2012
Format:Hardcover
Robbins Basic Pathology 9th ed
Chapters are organised well, with some useful basic structure and function sub-headings to detail the importance of the system in question.

With regards to general layout, the chapters are very easy to read and navigating to specific conditions is quite logical and well laid out. Explanations and pathologies are well and accurately described, with good use of various diagrams and illustrations. There are a number of summary boxes as well as numerous slides to cover histopathology as well.

As a pathology book I would say depending on individual course curriculum requirements this book would be highly useful in Years 1-2 and moderately useful in revision or consolidation of knowledge in Year 3.

A great book which still was packed in plastic so I knew it was not used. And even though it is called "Basic" it is quite thick and has a lot of good information. Happy to be able to use this for school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Pathology 17 July 2010

Review from Cambridge Univeristy Medical Student.

Robbins Basic Pathology is what you would get if you took the much larger Robbins:Basis of Pathology and made notes on all the major important details. I liked the boxes that are spread around everywhere summarizing the disease process in structured order.

Has all the important bits that you need to learn, and if you want a deeper insight into a topic then search pubmed for the latest review (much more recent than what Robbins:Basis would come up with)

Suitable for all Pathology use in the UK medical school curriculum, especially the Stage 2: Clinical Path in Cambridge.
