I too read this as a child in the 1970's. It was my favorite book and despite no-one else ever having heard of it I vowed I would get a copy for my own children. Its all about the hapless adventures of two boys and a coffe grinder in a Bavarian castle.

I grew up on this book and all the others by Otfried Preussler. My father first read this book to me before I could read myself and then as I grew older I would get this out of the library on a regular basis - infact I think there was only me and my brother who did! The escapades of Caspel and Seppel and their coffee grinder kept us mesmerised. I don't know how they would stand up today, but as a child of the 70's they were perfect.

I only read particular books and found the Robber Hotzenplotz very interesting. I didn't expect the wizard or a coffee grinder to be the leading characters. The characters are not normally used in other books which it stand out from other books. I had never heard of the author before and think she is great. I plan to read more books by Otfried Preussler.
