Product Description

One of the most hughly anticipated mountain bike video releases of the year, ROAM is the second film from the critically acclaimed group of film makers known as the The Collective. Shot on gloriously detailed 16mm film, Roam really pushes the boundaries, as much in terms of cutting edge riding as breath taking cinematography. Shot in eight primary locations including the North Shore, Moab, Prague, Morocco Whistler Bike Park, British Columbia and producing 100 hours of raw footage. Roam promises to be everything a mountain biker could wish for in a DVD.

Absolutely The Best 25 Dec 2008
Format:DVD
I've got a small variety of Mountain Bike DVDs (several of them by The Collective who are responsible for Roam) and this is quite simply head and shoulders above all the rest. The riding is nothing short of spectacular and covers all bases from North Shore to Trials (Ryan Leech in Prague) from single track to big air and all points in between. It is beautifully filmed on 16mm film and it really does just stand out, the colours are great, the shots well chosen and a really great balance between arty and looking great and being full of action. As for the soundtrack it's a really varied bunch of tunes (Rock, Hip-Hop, House, Accoustic, Reggae) and I've gone out and bought stuff by Boy Sets Fire, Michael Franti and The Dub Pistols as a result of hearing them on here (I really should just buy the soundtrack album).

I'm not sure I own any DVD (of any sort) that I, my kids or my mates have watched as often as this and I've only had it for a couple of months. If you like Mountain Biking or great extreme sports videos get it, you won't be sorry.

I've got a few mountain bike DVDs and until I got a copy of this Union was probably my favourite, Roam is something else though.

I've seen all the Whistler footage that's been on YouTube for an age but it doesn't give any idea of how good the DVD really is. Aside from both the excellent riding and variety on the DVD (North Shore, Whistler, Morocco and British Colombia are just my highlights) the whole DVD is beautifully filmed and edited giving the whole thing a far more slick and professional look than anything else I've seen.

Roam also does something which most MTB DVDs don't do for me, it makes me want to go out and ride my bike every time I watch it.

My only complaint is that it's £13 for 40 mins but that said it is still good enough for me to put my hand in my pocket and buy it even knowing that.

As with other reviews what really sums this film up is that it really does make you want to get out on your bike ride it, ride it some more; and enjoy every minute of it!

This film isn't about how skilled or extreme a bunch of attention seeking idiots can become; but about the true spirit of mountain biking, emotions and exhilaration that is felt when riding an XC trail or weaving through berms on a wooded down hill section, it is about what drives you to painfully cycle back up for a another decent; about why you chose to cycle home from work through the city, as opposed to getting the bus. Enjoy!
