Book Description

July 2003
From Willy Wonka's Nutty Crunch Surprise to the mound of mysterious spare ribs consumed by Hansel and Gretel in RHYME STEW, food has always been an essential ingredient in Roald Dahl's writing for children. Now there's a unique cook book which Dahl fans will devour. His wife, Felicity Dahl, has created a practical guide to making some of the scrumptious and wonderfully disgusting dishes which appear in Roald Dahl's books. In ROALD DAHL'S REVOLTING RECIPES there's something intriguing for every occasion, from a simple lunch to a birthday feast. Everyone will relish cooking and eating these amazing recipes whether it be Stink Bugs' Eggs, The Enormous Crocodile or Bruce Bogtrotter's sensational chocolate cake! Quentin Blake's wickedly funny illustrations capture Dahl's sense of fun perfectly and Jan Baldwin's photographs offer a tantalizing promise of the treats in store. ROALD DAHL'S REVOLTING RECIPES is a unique book which Dahl fans of all ages will devour. It is the ULTIMATE treat.

Amazon Review

Feeling hungry? How about some Snozzcumbers for a snack, or a Fresh Mudburger for dinner? Or perhaps you're in the mood for Stink Bugs' Eggs. Fans of Roald Dahl will recognize his peculiar culinary inventions from his many books--now these dubious delights are collected together in Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes, a compendium of dishes that sound worse than they really are. Stink Bug Eggs, for example, are really devilled eggs with some food colouring and a special, added ingredient (parmesan cheese or asafetida) to make them particularly aromatic. Mr Twit's Beard Food consists of mashed potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, mushrooms and cocktail franks cunningly arranged. Each recipe is simple to make, many are delightfully disgusting to contemplate, but all are easy on the palate. Roald Dahl himself would have been delighted to eat these ravishingly revolting recipes. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun! 11 Oct 2012
By Jess
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Use it with my class of KS2 class and they absolutely love it! Some of the recipes are a little complex and take a lot of further planning and preparation but are very fun! Everything so far has turned out to be rather delicious and has been great to try things out of the normal and with links back to Literacy of Roald Dahl topic it makes it an overall winner.
