Roald Dahl has been an evergreen favourite with nearly every class I have ever taught. This book is an exciting look at his life and works. In the Scholastic series 'Dead Famous', this book tells Dahl's story through text, diary entries, letters, postcards home, and cartoons. Andrew Donkin's writing is funny, easy to read, and manages to make Dahl's life story utterly compelling. It fills a much needed gap in the market - up until this issue there had been (as far as a know) no longer (this is 35,000 words) biography of Dahl aimed at 9 to 15 year olds. My kids couldn't put it down, and when they finally did, it was to move on to reading Dahl's titles introduced in this one. Five stars.
