Enlightening picture of Roald Dahl 19 Jan. 2013
By Mrs Julanda Meyer - Published on Amazon.com

Very well researched and written, this biography paints a picture of a complex man and writer who wasn't always so effortlessly successful as one imagines. I really enjoyed the personal detail, especially of his writing career
Good, but... 20 Jan. 2015
By Morten Schmidt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Divided feelings about this book. In the one end, it assumes the narrative stance of a divine discourse, yet clearly renders judgment favoring certain characters in the story. Also, it leaves the odd sensation of always being an ally to the book editors who are suggested to have suffered in dealing with Dahl, to varying degrees, and never make much effort at balancing the views. On the other hand, Treglown has clearly invested much time and effort and resources in forming an ample picture of this Big not-always-Friendly Giant in especially children literature. I would certainly recommend the book, but also be prepared to engage in material which is narratively claiming neutrality, but which through its actual unfolding becomes partial.
