5.0 out of 5 stars Roadside Relics: a class act, 15 Dec 2006
Roadside Relics: America's Abandoned Automobiles was given to me as an early Christmas present, and I don't profess to be a car fanatic or know much about chrome trim or sun visors, but having read it from cover to cover, I am now hooked on roadside relics and salvage yard scrap metal! I did not know my Corsairs from my Sedans beforehand, but Roadside Relics: America's Abandoned Automobiles really brings home the magic of a bygone age where beautiful, hulking autos really were kings of the road. The author, Will Shiers, really know his stuff and his quirky style of writing really shines through on every page and makes the book a real page-turner, and all of his carefully crafted photographs tell a story and fire the imagination - just how did that tree end up growing right through the hood? Maybe even Shiers himself doesn't know? Whatever the stories behind the hundreds of vehicles featured in his book, Shiers stuffs every page with interesting facts and figures and great anecdotes. Go out and buy this book today, I thoroughly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed with great pictures, 21 Jan 2007

You don't have to be an expert in American automobiles to enjoy this book. The stunning photography and amusing photo-captions provide not only a excellant guide to cars from across-the-pond, but an intriguing glimpse of the views on offer from some of the USA's less-travelled roads and tracks. The author has obvioulsy accumulated more miles on roadtrips than your average holidaymaker clocks up in a lifetime - and what a good job he never forgot to take his camera with him...!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roadside Relics - a masterpiece of its type
It's obvious that the author doesn't have time for many interests beyond old American cars, except maybe collecting Air Miles. Read more
