About the Author
Jamie Jensen has been immersed in road trip culture from an early age. After a three-year stint bumming around the country, making hay in Kansas, sailing boats in Chesapeake Bay, painting houses in Boston, and living in the storeroom of a Manhattan music studio, he returned to California and earned a degree in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley. Rather than get a real job, he then moved to England, where he began to write about America. Jamie is the author of Road Trip guides to the USA, California & the Southwest, and New England. He lives in Northern California, at the west end of US-50.

Best reference book we took (and we had Lonely Planet and Rough Guides). Gives you multiple routes, suggested offshoot day trips, down to earth summaries of towns and areas and tips to save money by eating at places with character but without big price tags. This would suit any traveller that likes to see a bit of quirky America at their own pace. No detailed maps, though, just in case you wanted a street-by-street of the towns included - it's about seeing small town America. And that's why we enjoyed it so much.

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend six weeks travelling America, starting with Route 66 then returning to Chicago via Las Vegas, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa.
We have now got the bug and have booked to go back next year. This book looks easy to follow and is full of information
