About the Author

Jamie Jensen grew up in Southern California, back when freeways were new, cheeseburgers cost a quarter, and every beach had a beachfront amusement park. After wasting his early 20s bumming around the country, making hay in Kansas and ghost-writing a book for the Grateful Dead, in 1990 Jamie set to work researching and writing "Road Trip USA." Since then he's traveled more than 400,000 miles in search of the perfect stretch of two-lane blacktop, but when not criss-crossing the country by car he rides his bike whenever possible. Jamie lives with his wife Catherine and twin boys Tom and Alex in Davis, California, near the west end of US-50.

Format: Paperback
This is a great book. It's small and lightweight but packed with information - it guided my friend and I down the coast from Delaware to northern Florida, taking us through all sorts of places that would have been difficult to discover with the internet or with a more general guidebook. Jensen writes concisely but with enthusiasm about all the weird and wonderful things it's possible to see on the off-interstate coastal routes, and is a valuable source of information about good places to eat. I would buy more of his guides without hesitation.

I had bought Jamie Jensons Route 66 guide, did the trip and found it very helpful.I had read it ,took notes and took the book with me when we eventually did the trip and found it invaluable.Nice neat size for the car and pocket and it has small detailed map of each section of the journey. In fact it takes about a day to cover each area on the map.We will be doing the Atlantic trip in July/Aug and looking forward to the trip already after reading this book. Well worth the money.

Expect a bit more coverage. Stops at NYC. Expected to cover Maine but it did not. (4 more words required)

Road trip Travel Guide - East Coast USA 6 Sept. 2012
By S. Cremona - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This was just OK. A bit too general and did not have several of the places I was interested in, e.g. Frank Loyd Wright's "Fall Water" in Pennslyvania. Also, there is no I PAD version. There are better travel guides.

And at that it was still a waste of paper 13 July 2014
By Christopher McDermott - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This "book" is no more than a glorified pamphlet. And at that it was still a waste of paper. This might have been some solid, hard to get info it were 1952. In the age of the internet don't bother. The best thing I can say about it that it's equisitly foot noted. Every open source stock photo cribbed by the author was properly attributed.

Don't waste your money! 3 Aug. 2014

Don't waste your money. Very thin both on content and actual size. Just thankful I did not order all the other books in the series. Plan on doing travel in the next year and these books would NOT be my choice to help plan these trips.
