Jason Momoa plays a Native American of the Mojave tribe called Wolf. We meet him riding across America on his aged motorbike picking up a stranger along the way - called `Cash' who ironically doesn't have any. Wolf has committed a crime of vengeance and for that the FBI are after him and they seem pretty ruthless in what they will do to track down this latter day `Jessie James'.

Now this seems to have picked up a lot of fans - possibly because of the `Game of Thrones' link with Momoa - I may be wrong. But this is far from a ground breaking movie. It is slow nearly all the way through with a bit of a spurt towards the end. There seems to be a lot of filler just showing us how laid back the two main characters are. One of the cops was the best part of this (sorry forgot his name - but he has a cowboy hat) - most of the other characters just occupied space for the majority of the time - this could be down to editing or directing or lets face it - the acting.

One thing that does stand out though is the cinematography - which was excellent. The sound track too is rather good, but you nearly get most of the songs sometimes in what again felt like `filler'. Not a terrible film but not one you would want to see again and there will be nothing `new' here either; if you are a fan of Jason Momoa though I am sure you will fins something of merit here.

This is a picture people love because of the anti-legal system message and not because of the acting. The story centers on Robert Wolf (Jason Momoa) a Native American in need of a bath. He is on the run from the law on a bike that requires Wolf to also be a mechanic. Wolf brutally killed Charles Grisby (Charlie Brumbly) who raped and killed his mother (neither event shown). Wolf feels Grisby wasn't punished enough and enacted his own justice system, one most people agreed with as he is aided and abetted by everyone he meets. Wolf's noble goal is to scatter his mother's ashes in a proper Mohave ceremony. Along the way he tangos up with Cash (Robert Homer Mollohan) making this film look like a remake of Easy Rider.

In a subplot, Wolf is pursued by two unrealistic federal agents who are 1-2 steps behind him.

The film utilizes independent tough guy, pro-libertarian, pro-anarchist, anti-government themes and similar hokey dialogue to drive home the point that the justice system discriminates against minorities...in this case Native Americans played by Fort Indians.

I am sure the same people who love this film will be the same types who loved "Billy Jack" (Part 1 and not the unwatchable sequels). The DVD cover claims "the road has unexpected turns." I didn't find anything new or unexpected.

Filmed in California, a state that has helmet laws. Now that was unexpected.

Parental Guide: F-bombs, brief sex. Nudity (Jordan Peterman). Brief night time rape scene. Some fighting/blood glorified.

I'm a big fan of Jason Momoa which is why I purchased this DVD. Its a beautifully atmospheric film with a very hard hitting message. I know that a lot of the native American scenes were lost to the cutting room floor in order to restrict the length of the film. I personally wish they had been left in becos I feel they are important to the very sad message behind the film. I would have been happy for the film to be longer as it has a very "Motorcycle Diaries" feel to it.

An excellent film. Combines realism with a good storyline, including real issues around legal system. The motorbike angle adds to atmosphere, recommended.
