Product Description

Widely regarded as one of the best of the Road To series, Bing and Bob play two song and dance men who are forced to leave Melbourne in rather a hurry in order to avoid various marriage proposals which have come their way and so sign on as deep sea divers working for a Balinese prince. Whilst he hopes that they will manage to locate a chest of lost treasure that lies at the bottom of a bay, he omits to tell them that it is guarded by a sea monster. Or that if they do manage to locate it, they will attract unwelcome interest from some not so friendly natives. The sixth in the Road To series and the only one made in colour, it features the usual Road To crew of Bing, Bob and Dorothy Lamour and guest roles for Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and Jane Russell.

Synopsis

The only colour road picture Hope and Crosby ever made, the inimitable comedy duo set out to rescue a native princess (the lovely Dorothy Lamour) from a plethora of jungle dangers. Guest appearances by Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, and Jane Russell.

1.0 out of 5 stars disgusted, 1 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This film is a classic, as it was Bing & Bob's first "Road" picture in colour. Alas, this copy is
about a third or fourth generation copy. Anyone
thinking about buying this DVD from Orbit should
go elsewhere! Be warned!

1.0 out of 5 stars Crosby and Hope in Great Form., 17 Mar 2004
By Mr. P. R. L. Robinson "tophoca" (Turkey) - See all my reviews

I enjoy all of the road films and 'Road to Bali' in particular.
Sadly, this VHS release appears to have been copied from the worst print available. It would appear that the DVD copy is just as bad if not worse. It is a pity that the film appears to have been released by an independent rather than MCA who use to own the copyright to all of Bing Crosbys films

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware, great film, abysmal DVD, 30 April 2003
By T. J. Stewart "Terry S" (Cambridge, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The Road to Bali is one of my favourite Bob Hope films. However, the producers of this DVD have ruined it with a very inferior product. This is the only one of the 'Road' movies to have been made in Technicolor, but in this copy the colours are extremely dark and very muddy. I gave up watching it after 20 minutes.

Great film - a classic but the quality is poor and a digital remastering is long overdue.
