There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this book of maps, but I regret buying them.
I have always been a fan of AA mapping, - I find it nice and clear to read, and so have been buying AA maps for many years now. I bought this as a replacement for a three year old Atlas that was becoming rather tatty. Unfortunately I did not look carefully enough at the item description. So, be warned, and don't make the same mistake I did.
The problem, - for me, - with this Atlas is it's size and weight; although of course, this may not be a problem for you. Let me explain: my old Atlas had large pages (approx. 39cm x 28cm), this new one has smaller pages (approx. 30cm x 22cm). This has two disadvantages:
- for route planning it is helpful to see as much as possible of the route on one page, (e.g. my old map could show the whole M25 area in one double page spread), so, for me, it makes the Atlas significantly less useful.
- smaller pages means you need more of them
Regarding the second point, this Atlas also includes detailed plans for many towns, (my old one did not), which adds yet more pages. The net result of this is that this Atlas is approx. 2cm thick, which is approximately three times the thickness of my previous Atlas, and at just over 1 kilo in weight is around 4 times the weight of my previous Atlas.
I am thinking now that I will keep this in the house for reference and try to find another Atlas of similar size to my original for the car. But as I said at the outset there is nothing intrinsically wrong with this Atlas, so it may be fine for you. Horses for courses.
