i bought my road angel plus with a little trepidation because i had read reviews about it not being as cutting edge as some other detectors, now i think thats a good thing! i inadvertently crept up on a dozing traffic patrol car 'slightly' above the recommended speed and the road angel went barmy! lights flashing and deafening beeps coming out of such a little box i very nearly crashed, i love you road angel.

This product looks good, but there are a few drawbacks.

Firstly, you may find that it doesn't work all of the time. There you are, happily driving along, you know where you are, your car's Sat Nav has your correct position down to the millimetre, but the Road Angel can't get a signal! Another 3 points for your license it is then ...........

However, you can always drive at the right speed when it doesn't have a signal (not that you wouldn't normally anyway!), so this isn't the worst aspect of the Road Angel.

By far the worst aspect of the design is the cradle used to attach the Road Angel to your screen, which at the slightest hint of a bend will either cause the Road Angle to move position, or jump out and slide across your dashboard, scratching the interior in the process. So you have to spend a lot of time either re-adjusting the position of the Road Angel whilst driving, or trying to catch it as it jumps out of the holder and slides across your dashboard. Not really something would expect from a supposed `safety system'.

So in short, you'll get less points on your license. However your chances of having a meaningful crash will probably increase because the cradling system is badly designed, and as such you'll spend a lot more time driving one handed leaning over to either re-adjust the position of the Road Angel or trying catch it as it flies along the dashboard.

Obviously if you live in the US and only drive on straight roads, then this system is perfect for you (alternatively you could superglue it to your windscreen, that would solve the whole problem - except for how to update the system).

firt 2 units didn't work at all as battery would not hold any charge, and was extremely difficult to extract a replacement. Third unit held charge, but didnt work, so same net result. Extremely frustrating. Extreme waste of quite a lot of money. Sort of hoping company will eventually show some remorse, or offer a better product. We'll see.ROAD ANGEL PLUS
