This is a great one volume edition of 2 odd and incredibly readable meditations on human ambition and purpose. My thoughts were that the language would be more dense and intricate but the prose is light, though the subject matter is about as heavy as it could get. Life and Death. Its no "Gravity's Rainbow" but well worth the limited effort that it takes to steam through it.

Excellent book by one of the best Science fiction writers, whose absence is much regretted. What a New World he describes!
The book arrived when expected, well packaged. Thank you.

I am a big fan of Philip Jose Farmer, and read the Riverworld series when it first came out (in the last century), so was pleased to hear from a friend that this mini series had finally made it to DVD.

It's sold as "Language: English" which is only half true (at least with the copy I got). The whole thing has been created in Dutch, and all the lead-in pirating verbiage is in Dutch (so meaningless to me). There is a whole 5 minutes (which seemed like 5 hours) of film trailers before the start-up screen. No way of skipping this tripe, even if you wanted. Then the film's top menu screen was displayed and, guess what, that was all in Dutch too. No choice of other languages or, for that matter, being able to turn off subtitles (more of which in a moment). I had a bad feeling at this stage that the film was going to be in Dutch and I was hunting around for a paper bag to put it in and send back to Amazon.

The packaging was as shown in the ads, but the whole thing looks and feels as though this is a back-of-the-car bootleg, with nothing but two discs in the box. It all looked and felt somewhat cheap; yes, I know you're not supposed to admire the cover and printing on the DVDs, but you can't help notice and, therefore, the comment is valid. It didn't feel second-hand, just bootleg.

Once I pressed play, I was half-way pleased that the soundtrack was in English, but, groan, moan, those really annoying subtitles (in Dutch) spoilt the experience. Too, in today's international selling environment, why of all languages that Amazon UK (that's Great Britain etc), is this thing just in Dutch, why not produce it in French, Italian or another European language?
