This was really worth waiting for. Griff Rhys-Jones opens up the story of some of Britain's rivers by navigating the few that are still open (96% are now closed to navigation) and talking about the industry and social history that they had and have.
He navigates rivers such as the Tay and the Severn but not, perhaps oddly, the Thames. Maybe this is because it's one of the ones closed to navigation.
The only irritating thing is that there is no index to the 2 DVDs on the packaging or on the disks themselves - yiou have to load them to find out what's on them (and then write it down on a piece of paper if you want to remember which is which!).
Griff's relaxed, chatty, amusing manner is perfect for this topic - and he's a good sailor too, which helps, as does his constant companion, his chocolate Labrador named Cadbury (is there a Rottweiler called Kraft anywhere?).
